Palworld Players Are Wondering Where the Floating Islands Are

Summary

  • Some Palworld players are questioning the absence of floating islands, despite them being featured in promotional material.
  • The game continues to receive updates, fueling hope that floating islands could appear in the future.

Some Palworld players have recently been complaining about the lack of floating islands in the popular Pokemon-inspired survival game. Floating islands appeared in several of Palworld’s marketing materials, such as official images and trailers, so it’s somewhat surprising that developer Pocketpair has not yet added this element to the title.

Palworld was one of the most surprising hits of 2024. Released in early access in January 2024, the survival game quickly became a huge hit due to its particular take on the popular Pokemon formula of exploring and capturing unique creatures. Since then, Palworld has reached over 32 million players across different platforms. Due to Pocketpair’s frequent updates, the game continues to feel like a fresh experience, attracting an even bigger audience.

Some dedicated Palworld players take to social media to share the marvelous bases they crafted in the game to serve a unique purpose.

Now, some gamers have been questioning where the floating islands are in Palworld. In a recent social media post, a gamer called Derk_Mage posed this question, indicating that multiple early materials have shown a few floating islands in Palworld, and yet none of them have appeared in the actual game. While other gamers also seemed to be bummed about the lack of floating islands, most of them expressed hope that because Palworld is still in development, these elements will be added sometime in the future. In the post’s comments, some people had interesting suggestions on how to make these floating islands even more unique. For example, one person defended that these islands should float around and keep changing places, making these locations more dynamic than usual non-floating terrains.

Palworld Players Question Lack of Floating Islands in the Game

While Palworld is still receiving frequent updates, most of them have been focusing on other gameplay elements, not exactly new locations. The latest patch only fixed a few bugs, for example, but there are more content updates expected later in 2025.

That’s not to say that there’s no fresh content in Palworld. Two major islands have been added to Palworld: Sakurajima and Feybreak. While Sakurajima was a standard-sized area with cherry blossom trees and Japanese-inspired buildings, the recently added Feybreak Island was huge and had multiple different biomes for players to explore.

It’s still unknown why the Palworld developers have not yet added floating islands to the game. However, a possible problem that could prevent them from doing that is the lawsuits that Nintendo is trying against Pocketpair. Earlier this month, Nintendo obtained another anti-Palworld patent in the United States, clearly continuing its efforts against Pocketpair on a global scale. Time will tell whether these lawsuits will work for Nintendo, though.
