Minecraft Movie's Official Toy Line Includes Multiple Jack Black Action Figures

Summary

  • Mattel has revealed various toy lines ready for the imminent release of A Minecraft Movie.
  • Headlining the drop is Jack Black’s take on Steve who will be getting two of his own action figures.
  • Other movie takes on some of Mincraft’s most iconic creatures have also been revealed alongside toy weapons and plushes.

A Minecraft Movie is only a little more than a month away from hitting cinemas and whether you like the look of what Warner Bros. has done with its world or not, it’s almost certainly going to be a Sonic 3-level hit at the very least. It will also have plenty of merch tied to it, including this new line of action figures plushes revealed today by Mattel.

While all of the toys revealed by Mattel are officially tied to the upcoming Minecraft Movie, it’s the Jack Black action figures that catch the eye since, unlike almost everything else in the film, the character looks quite a bit different than he does the source material. While the Creepers and Ghasts could feasibly be toys based on the game as well as the movie, these new Steve figures most definitely cannot.

The Minecraft movie will be getting at least two Lego sets, both of which will be released on March 1, 2025.

The likeness when comparing them to Jack Black’s Steve, on the other hand, is uncanny. The ability by Mattel to make a figure that’s so small look so much like the lead in the Minecraft movie is impressive. Black has two action figures in Mattel’s Minecraft movie range. The first has him wielding a classic Minecraft sword with a bag under his arm that has a roast chicken peeking out of the top. Handy.

Plushes, Swords, And The Coup De Grace, A 12-Inch Jack Black Action Figure

The second figure is slightly bigger standing at 12 inches tall, allowing for Minecraft Movie Steve to look a little more detailed, and hence a little more Jack Black. While it’s more detailed than the smaller figure, it’s less accessorized. No chicken for this Steve, just a sword and a look on its face that suggests he’s not afraid to use it, or he’s about to hit us with an impromptu performance of his hit song Peaches. Oh sorry, no, wrong video game movie.

While Jack Black as Steve might be the star, he’s far from the only toy Mattel has created in conjunction with the Minecraft movie. The smaller figure range also includes a wolf, a skeleton, and a creeper, all of which will cost $9.99 each. The only creature getting a larger 12-inch figure is a Creeper. Both it and the Steve figure will cost $14.99 each.

Creepers are featured heavily in Mattel’s new toy line which makes a lot of sense since they might be more synonymous with Minecraft than anything else you can find in its world. It and the Minecraft bee that opened one of the film’s first trailers are now plushes. There are also Funko Pop-style versions of the characters to collect called Mini Modes that can be found in Spawn Eggs, a Piglin paired with a Ghast that can shoot pretend fire, and various toy weapons that your Minecraft-loving kids might want to wield when they go and see the movie in cinemas from April 4, 2025.
