Is There a Reward for Completing Optional Objectives?

Monster Hunter Wilds has undoubtedly the most cutscenes and dialog conversations in series history. For a large chunk of the first 10-15 hours of the game, you’ll experience scene after scene and lots of chatting while riding on your Mount slowly through the biomes. I know I’m making it sound like a not-so-great experience, but on the flip side, this is the most story we’ve ever gotten in a Monster Hunter game, so if you’re into the lore, you’re probably going to love it.

Something else that sets Monster Hunter Wilds apart from other titles is that during main quest scenarios, you’ll occasionally be given Optional tasks that appear on the right side of the screen. You might wonder whether these are worth doing, and we’re here to give you an answer.

Should You Do Optional Tasks in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Unless you really care about the narrative and character development in Monster Hunter Wilds, you do not need to worry about completing these Optional objectives. They do not give you any rewards and just add extra time to your game clock.

Some of these Optional tasks range from speaking to certain NPCs around a base camp to gather intel to interacting with monsters or areas in an environment to get a feel for the world. Some of these actions can be neat, like exploring the Plains and seeing different monsters with Alba, but most are pretty boring and don’t add much to the overall Monster Hunter Wilds experience.

So, if you’re worried about missing out on anything by not completing the Optional objectives, just don’t do them!
