One of the two next on your list is Bungle Wasteland, and this desert location not only sports an abandoned museum full of trash, but some secrets left beneath the earth.

With so many resources, statistics, objectives to keep track of even in individual games, new players may find some sim games overwhelming.

You’ll have to work not only to restore your new museum, but also to fix the issues that Bungle Technology has left behind in this once-beautiful location. There are contraptions and strange machines to build, dangerous facilities to send your staff to, and even some helpful robots.

Bungle Wasteland Overview

Bungle Wasteland is going to be one of the tougher maps, as until you get your first Star or let time pass to amass as many Exhibit Showcases as possible for the cash rewards, you aren’t going to have much money.

You start off with a decent amount, but it’ll quickly go down as you’ll already need to build additional museum sections, and your Workshop will get used almost constantly, more than almost any other location.

Instead of looking for Exhibits, you’ll mostly be going on Expeditions to find materials, Science Project-specific perks, and new Workshop Projects for your Science Experts to create as Exhibits.

Most of them also have upgraded versions you can obtain, and you won’t want to just stick to one Exhibit theme here due to certain objectives and how Custom Contraptions work.

Bungle Wasteland One Star Rating Guide

Groundbreaking

  • Hire a Janitor.
  • Complete an Expedition to Oreful Quarry.
  • Make a Drill in the Workshop.
  • Clear the obstruction to Blocked Tunnel (Bungle Burrows).

First things first on this map, you’ll want to build a Workshop somewhere. Start hiring some basic staff, especially Science Experts and Janitors with the Workshop skill, as they’re going to be the most important staff on this map, next to Assistants.

If you don’t get a Janitor with the Workshop skill right away, go ahead and make a small Training Room so you can train one, and make sure to sell the giant piles of trash around for some extra cash.

While not mandatory, it’s better to go ahead and build a second building on the available plot while you have the money for it so you have room for the Science Exhibits.

Once you’re set up, it’s time to start making Expeditions, and the first is to Oreful Quarry so you can start getting Metal, one of the three major resources for making Science Projects in the Workshop. Safe will tend to get you around 50 Metal, while Detailed ones will get you around 85.

Custom Contraptions

  • Hire a Science Expert.
  • Make and display a Spa Point using the Workshop.

This is the shortest and easiest set of objectives. Hire any Science Expert that shows up on the hiring list as long as they don’t have too many negative traits, and then have them make a Spa Point in the Workshop.

When it’s done, place it down somewhere, make sure it’s properly decorated, get your info stands and Donation Boxes up like usual, and you’ll already be onto the next objective set, A Science Museum?.

Don’t bother selling older versions of Workshop Inventions, especially if they have perks installed. They count as separate Exhibits so you can leave both down to help boost your donations and improve your museum’s buzz.

A Science Museum?

  • Sell 15 Tickets.
  • Collect 500 cash from Donations.
  • Display Exhibits from three different themes.
  • Display a Spa Point II.
  • Employ a Janitor qualified in Fire-Resistance.

For the first two objectives, those will pretty much happen automatically as long as you’ve got at least one or two Exhibits down, and Donation Boxes available, and having a Janitor in Fire-Resistance can be done by hiring one or training one in it.

The Spa Point II is also easy to make: it just requires 15 people to see a Spa Point to unlock its project in the Workshop, and it only needs 50 Metal.

The real challenge of this set is going to be getting Exhibits from three different themes, as you’re still not going to have much cash at this point, you’ll need more Experts, and many of the Expeditions for other themes are much more expensive. For this, you’ll want to prioritize the cheapest Expeditions and themes, such as:

  • Prehistory from Points of Interest like Greasy Fields or Rib Row.
  • Supernatural from Points of Interest like Infernal Station.

Prehistory and Supernatural will be the cheapest overall, as you won’t need extra buildings for them like you would for most Marine Exhibits, though Space Exhibits also aren’t too bad as far as cash expenses either.

Exhibits from the Exhibit Showcase challenges also count towards the theme objective as they’re part of their own category, and can be an even cheaper way to get it done if you don’t mind waiting.

Sickly Situation

  • Unlock Bungle Security Door #1.
  • Find and analyze a Sickly Pear.
  • Turn a quarterly profit of over 750 cash.
  • Best Visit: 250 Buzz.
  • Install three perks.

The biggest hurdle in this set is that you’ll need to save or have at least 40,000 cash if you haven’t already, as you’re required to analyze at least one Sickly Pear for it, and this location tends to leave you with less money overall at first.

First, you’ll need to unlock Allotment Labs by unlocking the POI obstruction with Bungle Keycard #1, and you’ll want to go ahead and send an Expedition off to get your first Sickly Pear and place it down to go ahead and start getting donations from it and new guest types.

If you’re set with Workshop Projects and your Staff for the moment, you can temporarily get rid of your Workshop and Training Rooms, build an Analysis Room to analyze the Sickly Pear, then get rid of it and rebuild the others once you’re finished.

During this time, you can get extra perks from the older Points of Interest and install them where you can if you haven’t already, and the bonus from the new Exhibits should get you over the 250 Buzz visit objective if it’s not already done, as well as the quarterly profit one.

When you’ve got a second Sickly Pear, or any other type of Botany exhibit and an Analysis Room up, go ahead and analyze it to unlock the next set of objectives, and get some more Botany Enlightenment at the same time.

Pear Shaped

  • Make and display a Mulch-o-matic using the Workshop.
  • Place a Botany Exhibit in a Mulch-o-matic to produce Mulch.
  • Make a Plant Camouflage in the Workshop.
  • Complete an Expedition to Water Valve.

The next big objective is the Mulch-o-Matic and Plant Camouflage. First, you’ll need to unlock the Surplus Supplies POI, which is done by doing two Expeditions to Oreful Quarry, and get yourself 50 Whirlicogs from Surplus Supplies.

Once you have the Whirlicogs, build a Mulch-o-Matic and put it down wherever is best, then start working on getting Botany Exhibits for it – you’ll only need one for the Plant Camouflage.

The easiest and most cost-effective way to get enough exhibits for it is to keep going to Allotment Labs for Sickly Pears. Each Expedition is only 5,000 Cash, so it’s a lot cheaper than other Botany-based Expeditions in other places, and with minimal risks.

Even with the Plant Camouflage, you may lose a Scientist or Janitor to the MIA event as it’s a separate encounter. You have to pick between one of them to lose, so try to send off staff who don’t have a high rank or many skills to avoid losing someone valuable.

When you get the Plant Camouflage, it’s time to take an Expedition to the Water Valve and get rid of the obstruction. As soon as that’s complete, you’ll get a one Star Rating for Bungle Wastelands, which rewards you with 25,000 cash, 150 Kudos, the Desert Twigs decoration item, and the incredibly useful Illness Elixer item and Workshop recipe.

Bungle Wasteland Two Star Rating Guide

Trials & Errors

  • Unlock Bungle Security Door #2.
  • Complete an Expedition to Chemical Labs.
  • Make and display a Judgement Clouder using the Workshop.
  • Have 30 guests view the Bungle Booster Box.
  • Museum Rating about 60 percent.

The first thing to do is put down the Bungle Booster Box and get started on getting people to view it. Anywhere will do as long as you meet the basic criteria: enough space, maximum decoration, and hitting the Buzz Bonus.

One of the major parts of this objective is getting your museum’s rating over 60 percent, and you may already have this completed. If not, make sure you have plenty of info boards, your ticket price isn’t too high, your exhibits are well decorated, and your guest’s happiness is high.

While this is happening, go ahead and get rid of the Bungle Security Door #2 obstruction for 5,000 cash. It’ll be the same as the other one: a single Science Expert and the Bungle Keycard #2 has to be your cargo.

Your main objective is the Chemical Labs, but it requires a Tour with a rating of at least 3.0 Stars, which is easy to do, but it’s worth it to go to Security Labs as well, as it has a new Workshop Project: the Panoptic Pillar.

An easy way to get a tour with a rating of 3.0 is to have a tour setup of only one or two Exhibits with high buzz and maximum decorations.

When you’re able to go to the Chemical Labs, this Expedition is going to cost 5,000 cash, have a length of 15 days, and you’ll have three negative events to deal with:

When you’ve obtained the Judgement Clouder design from Chemical Labs, make it in the Workshop as soon as possible to move onto the next set of objectives.

Stench Warfare

  • Make a Scent Situator in the Workshop.
  • Display 300 Buzz from Custom Contraptions.
  • Display Exhibits from three different themes.
  • Have one Workshop with a level five Decoration rating.

The easiest two objectives in this set are the Workshop and displaying three different Exhibit themes, as you’ll likely already have this completed unless your third theme was dependent on an Exhibit Showcase or you opted to sell excessive Exhibits for cash once that objective was done.

For the Workshop, use some of your Kudosh to unlock extra Decoration items and place them down until it’s up to a rating of five.

If you need to get 300 Buzz, there are several things you can do to get it, such as: get and install as many Buzz-related perks as possible on your Custom Contraptions, explore other POIs for any Workshop Projects you haven’t unlocked already, and make sure you’re upgrading ones you have.

After completing this last set of objectives, you’ll successfully obtain a Two Star Rating for Bungle Wasteland and, as a reward, you’ll get 25,000 cash, 150 Kudosh, and the Flowering Cactus and Science Bin decoration items.
