How To Beat Ajarakan In Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds occurs in the Forbidden Lands, a place where several ecosystems coexist in harmony, at least for the time being. In this wild place, one of the most volatile places is called the Oilwell Basin, where fire-related monsters roam around clashing against each other and any poor souls that encounter them by accident.

Monster Hunter Wilds Is Paywalling Character Editing

Nothing quite like having to pay real-life dollars to edit your in-game character.

One of the strongest monsters residing in the Oilwell Basin is the Ajarakan, a simian creature with huge arms and a penchant for igniting itself in pure fire while entering a rage state. This is one of the first monsters you will face in this region, and here we’ll tell you all about it.

Ajarakan – Strengths And Weaknesses

The Play Guide showing the strengths and weaknesses of Ajarakan in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Weak Points

  • Head
  • Tail (can be severed)
  • Arms/Forelegs

Resistant Points

  • Back (breakable)
  • Belly
  • Hind Legs

Elemental/Ailment Weakness

  • Water-type Damage
  • Ice-type Damage

Elemental/Ailment Resistance

Immunity to Fire-type damage.

Best Weapon Damage

  • Slashing Damage
  • Bludgeoning Damage

Ajarakan is fairly weak to Slashing and Bludgeoning Damage (even though the former hits a bit harder), and is particularly weak to Water and Ice, so you must prepare your equipment accordingly. Its head, tail, and arms are its weakest parts, but even though its back is one of the most resistant parts, you can still break it.

Best Equipment To Fight Ajarakan

Best Recommended Weapons

  • Master Sabers
  • Precipice Geumgel
  • Windclaw Kiribami

Best Recommended Armor

  • Gravios Set
  • Damascus Set
  • Arkveld Set

While we include the maximum upgrades of each weapon we recommend, keep in mind that any stage of those weapon’s lines will work.

On the weapons side, you want to inflict as much elemental damage as you can, and since Ajarakan is weaker to Slashing damage, Dual Blades, Longswords, and Insect Glaives will work perfectly, which is why we chose the Water Element Dual Blades, the Jin Dahaad Insect Glaive, and the Hirabami Longsword.

For the armor, you want something that resists fire, and the Gravios and Damascus sets have a whopping 20 Fire Resistance, which works amazingly. If you don’t mind going a bit harder on the offensive, though, you can always rely on the endgame Arkveld set, which doesn’t have as much Fire Resistance as the other sets, but it compensates it with amazing abilities like Weakness Exploit and Flayer.

Ajarakan – Fight Breakdown And Moves

Three Ajarakan roaring in Monster Hunter Wilds.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Ajarakan is its aggressiveness; this monster does not play around, so be always prepared and careful. Given that a lot of its movements will be directed in a straight line, try to flank it as often as possible to maximize your damage output.

First and foremost, its punches will inflict Blast damage on you, so always roll to take that stuff off your hunter, or it won’t be pretty for your HP. Ajarakan can also inflict Fire-type damage, so always bring Nulberries with you before the mission begins.

Keep in mind that this enemy loves to use a line-shaped AoE that will hit you and light the floor on fire, burning everything in its path. When it enters a rage state, its upper body will light up with fire, and during this mode, it can use a very strong AoE explosion that will likely one-shot you; to avoid dying, mind Ajarakan’s movements while it’s enraged, and the moment it starts spinning at a fast speed, that’s your queue to take some distance.

Once enough damage is done and it goes back to its nest, it might jump to the floor of that area and do some pirouettes; always look up and try to move out of its way. Concentrate on hitting its tail and forelegs, keep flanking it, and it shouldn’t take you long before it’s defeated
