The Sharingan is one of the best abilities created by Kishimoto in Naruto. Much of its value was lost in Boruto.
Although the beginning to her journey in Naruto wasn’t the best, Sakura grew dramatically in the second part of the story, and then went on to achieve great things. Although it cannot be said that she was handled perfectly in Naruto, at the very least, Sakura does have a lot of impressive feats to her name, which makes her a formidable enemy for anyone to take on in combat. At the same time, her immense achievements also go on to show that she eventually went on to surpass even the Fifth Hokage of Konoha, Tsunade Senju, and redefined medical ninjutsu completely.
Tsunade and Sakura’s Similarities In Combat
- Both Users Of Medical Ninjutsu
- Both Possess Tremendous Strength
It’s no surprise to know that Tsunade Senju and Sakura Haruno are monsters in combat, and it’s clear to see that there’s a similarity in their fighting style as well. For Tsunade, she was a genius who was trained by the legendary Third Hokage of the Leaf, and the man known to be an absolute monster in combat. With the likes of Orochimaru and Jiraiya, Tsunade had high expectations to match and she clearly succeeded in matching and even surpassing them by quite an extent. Not only did Tsunade become a strong fighter, but at the same time, she became a pioneer in the field of medical ninjutsu. Tsunade established the modern way of medical ninjutsu, even going as far as to create a set of rules for medical ninjas to follow.
People become stronger because they have things they cannot forget. — Tsunade Senju
Unsurprisingly, she was the strongest medical ninja of her time, and her strength was such that even Chiyo, a legendary ninja in her own right, couldn’t match up to her. Tsunade eventually grew old and that certainly affected her power levels, but she was clearly a monster in combat. Eventually, she took on Sakura as her apprentice and drilled all her skill and knowledge into her. Over the two-and-a-half years that they trained together, Tsunade taught the basics of medical ninjutsu to Sakura Haruno, but also taught her that a medic cannot be weak. They need to be strong enough to hold their own, or they’d be a burden on the team.
This is why Tsunade herself was a monster in combat, and why she aimed to make Sakura a monster as well. By the time their training was over, Sakura had become a miniature version of Tsunade Senju. Everything that Tsunade could do, Sakura could as well, only she was a lot weaker. But, with time, Sakura grew dramatically in terms of power, and during the Fourth Great Ninja War, she reached new heights, which allowed her to surpass even her mentor, Tsunade Senju.
How Sakura Is A Level Above Tsunade
Sakura Is Better In Just About Every Aspect
The new generation surpassing the previous one isn’t a foreign concept in the world of Naruto. Fans have often seen many strong fighters who eventually get surpassed by someone who comes after them. In general, shinobi keep growing and the next generation almost always surpasses the previous one. This is precisely why Naruto Uzumaki went on to surpass those who came before him, and why Sasuke did something similar. Naturally, Sakura had no intention of being left behind, which is why she worked hard to surpass Tsunade.
Lady Tsunade, I have finally caught up to these two! — Sakura Haruno
By the time of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Sakura Haruno went on to achieve incredible competence in the art of medical ninjutsu. The greatest war of all time saw Sakura work overtime and treat countless patients.
Naturally, it is here that she completed most of her healings, and on top of keeping that up, Sakura even managed to store small portions of her power for her Strength of a Hundred Seal. In other words, Sakura was nerfed at all times in Naruto Part 2, of her own volition, because she wanted to complete this training, which took her three years to fully accomplish. She eventually went on to unleash this monstrous power in the war, achieving near-immortality, and gaining enough power to stand up to Madara Uchiha in his Six Paths form, and even Kaguya Otsutsuki, the progenitor of chakra on earth.

The second Hokaga, Tobirama, was a powerful man. His death had great impact in Naruto.
Moreover, Sakura Haruno was also deemed to be very strong in more than just one way. Whereas Tsunade Senju had to maintain her youthful appearance at all times, Sakura didn’t have to worry about this. In fact, Sakura hardly cared about this, which meant that her output with Strength of a Hundred Seal was generally even higher. On top of that, her chakra control was seemingly better than Tsunade’s, and this allowed her to bring out more strength on impact. Her monstrously powerful blows were even stronger than those of Tsunade Senju, as noted by the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju himself.
If all that isn’t enough, Sakura also had a near-immunity to all Genjutsu, and by the time of The Last: Naruto the Movie, this immunity only grew. Sakura was able to resist Genjutsu even as strong as the ones they put Naruto Uzumaki, a perfect Jinchuriki, under its control. Sakura had also accumulated enough chakra by this point that she could pour her own into a Jinchuriki for three whole days without a break, and not break a sweat.
Sakura’s Peak In The Series
Sakura Haruno Was Far Stronger Than Tsunade
By the time of adulthood, Sakura became a force to be reckoned with, and her strength had already far surpassed that of Tsunade. But that’s not all. Sakura also went on to make great advancements in the field of medical ninjutsu. She possessed such high mastery that she was eventually made the head of the Medical Division of Konoha. All this alone puts her above Tsunade Senju, but there’s definitely more. Sakura even had a great mastery of Fuinjutsu by adulthood, to the point where she could create her own seals, and she even learned some extra nature transformations, such as Fire Release, likely from Sasuke Uchiha. Perhaps, the biggest praise of all is that by adulthood, Sakura is deemed by many, including Boruto Uzumaki, to be a worthy Hokage replacement for Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh. Overall, Sakura is a stronger version of Tsunade, and she likely has other achievements that she hasn’t shown just yet.
