Where are the Monster Hunter Wilds fish? A nice way to earn some EXP without the threat of getting your head trampled, fishing is a lovely, quiet pastime that not only nets you guild points but also some valuable items for your trouble. Some of the requested fish are notoriously difficult to find, so to save you the trouble of searching for them yourself, we’ve put together a list of exactly where you can find them.
Nabbing wildlife without capturing them usually involves equipping one of the best Monster Hunter Wilds builds, sharpening your MH Wilds weapon, and preparing for violence. Fishing, however, is a relatively calm experience that allows you to take in the ambiance of Monster Hunter Wilds, and if done efficiently, can see you rack up a ton of ranks while you’re at it.
Once the on-rails portion of the mainline Monster Hunter Wilds quest is nearly done, you can speak to Kanya in the Scarlet Forest camp: you can find her towards the rear of the camp, fishing in the cave pond. Kanya will task you with catching various types of fish, awarding you with experience and different types of lures as you progress.
Monster Hunter Wilds fish locations
Here is the location of every quest fish in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Goldenfish: Forest region 8, through the waterfall. Dive under then fish using the Golden Bait when you reach the other side.
- Gravid Bowfin: The river in between the main forest camp and region 3. Heading there during the morning gives you the best chance of finding it. Use the Emerald Bait.
- Whopper: Forest region 12 lake. Fish using the Tuff Joint Bait.
- Grand Escunite: Forest region 12. Fish at nighttime and use the Tentacle Bait.
The key to fishing is patience, so if you head to these areas but there’s nary a fish to be found, just wait a while. Or better yet, go perfect the Monster Hunter Wilds Insect Glaive and come back when the conditions are perfect.
