Now that Mages of Mystralia became available to claim on the Epic Games Store, the platform has also confirmed its next freebie: Them’s Fightin’ Herds. The 2D fighting game with an adorable animal cast will become claimable next Thursday, March 6, at 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET. As per usual, the upcoming offer will be live for exactly one week, ending on March 13.

It was originally released in early access in February 2018 to fairly widespread acclaim, as reflected in its “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, derived from an average score of 81 and a 79% reviewer recommendation rate. Reviewers labeled Them’s Fightin’ Herds as an excellent example of a modern fighting game, praising its accessible controls, immense mode variety, and a tightly balanced—if somewhat limited—character roster, among other qualities. The game has also received a fairly warm reception from consumers, as it presently boasts thousands of “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam, as well as 3.6- and 4.39-star ratings on the Xbox and PlayStation Stores, respectively.
Them’s Fightin’ Herds Returns as EGS Freebie After Over 2 Years
Them’s Fightin’ Herds was already free on the Epic Games Store once before, having been given away as part of the platform’s 2022 Mystery Game holiday giveaway. However, that offer was only live for 24 hours, whereas this newly confirmed promotion will mark the first occasion on which the cute fighting game will be free to claim on the storefront for a full week.
The Epic Games Store freebie for March 13 will be announced as soon as Them’s Fightin’ Herds becomes available to claim a week earlier. While Epic usually gives away one title per week, it doubles that offer every so often. The company recently started running similar freebies to promote its mobile app store, which is currently giving away Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Star Wars: KOTOR 2 until March 20.
