Monster Hunter Wilds focuses largely on the weather and environmental changes that occur in the various biomes.
At times, you’ll notice that an area is bright and full of life; other times, you’ll find a location to be suddenly dark and decrepit, with gray skies and thunderstorms.
These environmental conditions can be seen on your detailed map of the locale, but you can actually change these, as well as the time of day. However, the feature isn’t always available in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds: How to Rest and Change Time of Day
To rest and change the time of day in Monster Hunter Wilds, you can either visit your personal tent back at any base camp, use one of the Pop-Up Camps at a locale, or bust your Portable BBQ Grill (which is also used for prepping stat-boosting meals).
- Hit the Rest button underneath the BBQ Menu section.
- From here, choose which environment you want: No Change, Plenty, Fallow, or Inclemency (~more on that below!)
- Choose the time of day as well: Morning, Daytime, Evening, and Nighttime.
- Pay the required Guild Points (earned on hunts) to complete the process.
- If you’re not a camp, you’ll be returned to one after the locale resets.
It’s worth noting that you can change the time of day or environment when you’re currently embarking on a quest. There are also times during the main story when you cannot alter the world.
Monster Hunter Wilds: Plenty, Fallow, and Inclemency Changes Explained
For those who don’t understand the differences between the environments, we’ve done the hard work for you! You can check out the images above of the Windward Plains.
The image on the left is the locale during the Plenty condition; the one in the middle is Fallow, and the last is Inclemency.
- As you can see, an area during the Plenty status will be sunny and full of life.
- The Fallow environment will make things a little cloudy, dusty, and dreary.
- And, of course, you can expect inclement weather, like thunderstorms, during the Inclemency status.
