Good news, vain people who’ve recently arrived in the Living Lands. There’s now an Avowed mod which can help you address your single biggest worry as you go about investigating the Dreamscourge – do the bunch of mushrooms on your bonce go with your eyes, and the rest of your fit of choice?
Yep, players have been begging for Obsidian to add-in something akin to Baldur’s Gate 3‘s handy magic mirror so they aren’t locked into a hairstyle they might end up hating for their entire playthrough, and a modding mirror merchant’s stepped up to answer these prayers.
‘Character Creation Menu – Change appearance – attributes – and more‘ by veteran modder Yakuzadeso – who’s probably best known for their array of Cyberpunk 2077 works – does exactly what you’d hope given its name.
With a single press of your F12 key, it’ll let you open up Avowed’s character creation menu at any time, so you can change everything from whether you want a bit of wood just slapped right across your visage, to things like hair, tattoos, gender, and even your base attributes.
As you’d expect for something relatively complex that’s dropped not long into the game’s lifespan, it doesn’t come without risk. “Make a save or backup your saves before going into the character creation menu,” Yakuzadeso advises, “You’re not supposed to use this menu outside of starting a new game, so I don’t know if it could lead to any issues, but everything seemed to be working fine while I was testing it.”
It looks like it’ll help to have some modding experience under your belt when installing the thing too. The modder has included step-by-step instructions in the description, and you’re in for a bit of digging around in game files – easy enough if you follow the guidance and do things carefully, but not as simple as just pressing download and letting your mod manager of choice do the rest.
To be fair, you can surely stomach a bit of work for the boon of being able to ditch your face fungi the moment you see it clipping through your locks in a way that looks a little bit goofy. You’re an envoy after all, gotta project an aura of knowing what you’re doing, even if you’re running around with your bum out.
