The game’s handful of Wands bring a quick, effective way for Wizards to inflict ample DPS at a fairly safe distance. They can wield a power approaching that of large melee weapons, while allowing for swift, precise projectile shots not unlike guns or bows. Given their power and versatility — with potential for enhancement via the Wizard Ability Tree — it’s no surprise they’re an Avowed weapon of choice. These few examples are the best of the best.

Wands are fairly common in Avowed, though even the lower-end quality variants can do some damage if used and enhanced wisely through the Wizard Ability Tree. Still, players will want to gather numerous Soft/Hard/Petrified/Blackwood Branches, Paradisan Ladders, Hylea’s Talons, Admeth’s Wyrt, and Cave Coral, so they can upgrade the more meager Wand to the stout Superb version (x3), which is the highest it can currently reach.
Maxing out the standard Wand can place its physical damage output close to that of far rarer Uniques. Players can more easily upgrade them, and break them down for valuable materials without worry, as they’ll likely be able to get another high-end standard Wand. If and when this Wand does get Legendary potential down the line, it may even surpass the current Unique Wands in raw damage. But for now, there are still a few better Wands to opt for.

Other than its block and parry efficiency, there isn’t much that makes this Wand stand out, at least compared to its two other Unique Wand siblings. Sure, it boasts respectable damage output and Stun ability, but so does its Unique ilk. Its Enchantment Cower Before Me adds to its stun potential, dealing +75% Stun to targets with full health.

Players shouldn’t hesitate to get their hands on these pieces of unique armor when they get the chance in Avowed.
However, those instances will be few when fighting with two companions, who will ensure foes don’t sit with full health for long. Basically, this one rewards stealth and evasion, as Rewarding Disloyalty, its other Enchantment, brings a -25% damage reduction for ten seconds after a successful Parry.
It’s more useful when sneaking up on targets, but not as great in the thick of battle. In the spirit of the fire Godlike Arcane Knight that first wielded this weapon, its Burning Lash perk grants +10% bonus Fire Damage; a plus for fire-focused Wizards, though this is a fairly small boost.

Named after a master archmage known for strong missile spells, Minoletta’s Conduit will impress Wizards, Fighters, and Rangers alike with its strength and range, enhanced by the Enchantment Charged (and Overcharged) Missile. This makes the Wand a devastating attack tool at medium range and can (almost) slot in as a magical bow, as it bumps attack damage 5%, and maximum Wand range 30%. This is topped off by Shocking Lash, which yields an added 10% bonus Shock damage.
Still, players will want to either be fairly stealthy or avoid aggro — with moves like Tanglefoot or companions like Kai making an impact. This is because the Conduit tends to lose some effectiveness when rushed by several mobs. This can be frequent if the Wizard wielding this Wand is poking foes for ample damage. But for those able to keep their distance, this is a solid weapon.

This Wand is sold by Abritt Porrya in Porrya & Vellino, within Fior Mes Iverno. This town lies in the central-eastern area of the Emerald Stair.

This Godless Wand, once held by the frost-favoring archmage Ryngrim, is already potent when looting the chest it rests in. But when upgrading, it truly becomes a powerhouse in nearly every area. Its Flight in Autumn Enchantment grants decent Frost Accumulation to nearby foes, which is amped up further by Exodus in Winter.
Meanwhile, Ill-Fated Return inflicts high Frost Accumulation (150) to the attacking enemy. Basically, this Wand is a damage and freezing machine, setting the stage for disruptive attacks and potent shatters (done effectively with Charge from the Fighter Tree).
How To Get The Whisper Of Exiles
Players can obtain this coveted Wand by looting a chest (requires five lockpicks) at the center of the Great Sand Sea (Shatterscarp). It lies to the southeast of Broken Crown Rock. There will be a rocky area crawling with Dreamthralls that will need to be dealt with.
