Xbox boasts that it has even more first-party games that are yet to be announced. A recent episode of Xbox‘s official podcast featured head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan as he chatted about some of the many big Xbox games that are soon to be released, like South of Midnight, Doom: The Dark Ages, and others. Duncan also came with news of a delay to Playground Games’ Fable reboot, adding that the team is now aiming for a 2026 release.
It wouldn’t be too bold a statement to say that Xbox’s first-party studios are firing on all cylinders. Coming off a highly praised release at the end of 2024 in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Xbox’s 2025 looks even stronger. Obsidian’s Avowed was released to solid reception just last week, Compulsion Games has its southern gothic, stop-motion style action game South of Midnight coming in April, and Doom: The Dark Ages is landing in May. Additionally, a second Obsidian RPG in The Outer Worlds 2 is also aiming to release at some point later this year. Xbox still has plenty of huge games planned beyond 2025 as well, including its Perfect Dark reboot, BioShock-inspired RPG Clockwork Revolution, Gears of War: E-Day, and now Fable.

Xbox Still Has More Game Announcements Up Its Sleeve
There are many first-party Xbox studios that could be on the verge of announcing their next game soon. For one, it’s been over three years since Double Fine’s last title, Psychonauts 2, and many Xbox gamers have been wondering about what’s next from Tim Schafer and his team. Ninja Theory’s next big game might also be ripe for a reveal at this point as well, and Obsidian seems to always have a smaller internal team working on a passion project like Grounded or Pentiment. As for some of Xbox’s bigger franchises, the recently rebranded Halo Studios could have its new Unreal Engine 5 game ready to show, or perhaps Playground’s Forza team could have the next Horizon game in the chamber. That doesn’t even cover all the Bethesda and Activision Blizzard studios that could have new games ready for the limelight as well.

While it has yet to be confirmed, gamers can expect Xbox to lock in its June showcase date at some point in the coming months. It’ll most likely be there that any new first-party games will be revealed, whether from Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, or another one of Xbox’s studios. It’ll be interesting to see whether Xbox can top last year’s wildly impressive showing.
