Xbox Game Studios Head Comments on Nintendo Switch 2

Xbox Game Studios head Craig Duncan recently shared his own excitement about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console. Much of the gaming world has been talking about the Nintendo Switch 2 since it was officially shown last month, and Nintendo has promised to reveal even more about its next mainline console during a Nintendo Direct livestream on April 2. In the meantime, gamers and insiders alike have shared their thoughts about the new Nintendo hardware and its similarities to the current Nintendo Switch.

Even high-ranking employees at Nintendo’s direct competitors have weighed in on the Nintendo Switch 2 following its unveiling, including Xbox Game Studios leader Phil Spencer. Shortly after the console was first shown, Spencer stated that Microsoft is looking forward to supporting the Switch 2 as part of Xbox’s efforts to expand its library of games beyond the confines of its first-party consoles. He also said that he expects the Nintendo Switch 2 to be a massive success, praising the system for new features like its larger screen.

A gaming industry analyst offers up their prediction about the Nintendo Switch 2’s price and Nintendo’s strategy for the next generation.

Fellow Xbox Game Studios head Craig Duncan shares this optimism toward the Nintendo Switch 2, saying as much during a recent interview on the official Xbox YouTube channel. Towards the end of this interview, Duncan noted that it was “cool” to see the Switch 2 announcement back in January and that he is always curious and excited to see what Nintendo will do next.

Earlier in the interview, Craig Duncan reiterated Xbox’s new efforts to bring its first-party titles to other platforms like Steam, PlayStation 5, and even the Nintendo Switch. He believes that making Xbox games like Sea of Thieves and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle more readily available is a “win-win” for both gamers and the developers under his employ.

So far, there is no official word of Xbox planning to release games on the Nintendo Switch 2, but there have been rumors suggesting that Nintendo’s new console will have plenty of support from Microsoft. Some of the suggested titles in question include the previously-mentioned Indiana Jones and last year’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Starfield could also be a strong contender on the Nintendo Switch 2, as Phil Spencer previously hinted at Bethesda’s epic space RPG spreading to other platforms. At the moment, the only major game officially confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2 is a new Mario Kart sequel, though more will likely be revealed during April’s Nintendo Direct.
