WWE 2K25 is right around the corner, and it’s looking to be an entry that is going to shake things up quite a bit from what fans are used to. While the game is throwing in plenty of new wrestlers and arenas for players to enjoy, there are also quite a few new confirmed features and modes that will help to spice things up too, so it’s understandable why a lot of WWE fans are so excited for the next installment to drop.

Barricade Climbing

More Environmental Interactions Allows Matches To Be Even More Chaotic

Climbing the outside barricade and leaping off to perform a Frog Splash or Elbow Drop isn’t anything new, and is a common sight in WWE. However, since the barriers have essentially acted as invisible walls for most of the 2K games, there has never been a way to climb on top of them to perform an attack, until now, that is.

If players have another wrestler down and out outside the ring, they can decide to deal some extra damage by scaling the barricade and performing an attack from up high. Of course, the opponent can always counter this if their timing is on point, but being able to use the barricade is still a welcome feature that will no doubt make matches even more chaotic.

Online MyGM

The Popular MyGM Mode Is Now Supporting Up To Four Online Players To Jump In On The Action

MyGm mode has slowly grown to become one of the most popular modes in the WWE 2K games since it allows fans to live out their fantasy booking dreams by being in charge of a large roster of wrestlers. Usually, this is an offline mode that players can jump into when they’re a little tired of playing regular matches, but now, MyGM can be played with other online players, with up to four in total being able to duke it out to see who will be the king of the ratings.

Players will need to not only earn recognition and fan support through their weekly shows, but also need to be smart about hyping up their PLEs, building feuds, and hiring the right superstars for the job. Players Can Talk The Talk As Part Of A Fiery Promo In The Universe Mode

Promos, that is, being able to speak on the mic to a crowd full of people, is a huge part of a wrestler’s job, but this feature has been left absent for many of the recent 2K games since the focus has been more on the wrestling itself. However, promos are back and are opening up some interesting avenues for the Universe mode.

When grabbing the mic and addressing the fans, players will have a few different options they can choose from when deciding what to say. Depending on the fan’s reception to the remarks, it will lead players down a branching path where their reputation will change depending on their promo skills, which is a nice added feature that implements a bit more depth and realism to this fan-favorite mode.

Chain Wrestling

Fans Can Enjoy The Strategic Gameplay Mode Once Again After A Long Hiatus

For those unaware, chain wrestling, which was included in the earlier WWE2K games, refers to a mode where players are able to be more tactical and precise with their wrestler’s movements. Once two wrestlers engage in a lock-up, for example, players will then be able to choose from multiple different techniques, giving the core gameplay a bit more strategy.

This Chain Wrestling mode can also be a lot of fun to try out since it prevents players from simply mashing a button to score the victory. This is a mode only reserved for those confident in their wrestling skills and psychology, so it’ll be a blast to test out with a friend to see who is the strongest.

Ally Storylines

Temporarily Fill The Shoes Of A Popular Wrestler And Experience Their Story In The My Rise Mode

After players create their own custom superstar and begin making their way through the My Rise mode, they will eventually encounter Ally Storylines, which provide a nice change of pace from the main story. When accepting these stories, players will assume control of a popular wrestler and will explore their own personal adventure for a little while before returning back to their custom character.

This is a clever new addition that helps make the My Rise mode more immersive by showing what all the other big shots are getting up to while the player’s wrestler rises through the ranks. The Bloodline’s Dynasty

Fans Will Get To Experience The Story Of The Samoan Dynasty In Its Entirety

Every WWE 2K game features a brand-new Showcase mode, but this latest one might be the biggest of them all. Titled ‘The Bloodline’s Dynasty’, this is a mode that will chronicle the history of Samoan wrestlers within the WWE, featuring stars like Yokozuna, Roman Reigns, and Jacob Fatu, just to name a few members of this prestigious family.

Considering the Bloodline story has been one of, if not the most interesting in recent years, with plenty of twists and turns that have seen the group shift around a lot, it’ll be interesting to see what the Wiseman, Paul Heyman, has to say about all of it as the narrator. Like previous games, this mode will allow players to control wrestlers in-ring during their most important matches, before then changing to a live-action segment in between to show players what was going down in the ring at that time in the real match.

Intergender Matches

Rhea Ripley Versus Roman Reigns Is Just One Of The Dream Matches That Can Be Made In 2K25

Intergender matches have been something fans of the WWE 2K games have been crying out for ever since the series first began, but finally, it’s making its long-awaited debut. Being able to have male and female wrestlers duke it out in the ring opens the doors to so many dream matches, such as Rhea Ripley versus Roman Reigns, or Seth Rollins versus Becky Lynch.

This also essentially doubles the roster, meaning once players jump into a match together where male and female wrestlers are available, they will have a plethora of superstars to choose from, all with their own unique look, moveset, and finishers. WWE 2K25 is uniting the locker rooms for the first time ever, and it’s fair to say that it’s got fans extremely excited.

The Island

An Online Hub Area Full Of Challenges And Cosmetics

Traditionally, the only way to interact with online players in a WWE 2K game was to simply jump onto a server, but all that could be seen from the screen was their nametags and the wrestler they’d be taking into the ring. However, WWE 2K25 is offering a different and pretty exciting online mode: The Island. Similar to the Battle Hub in Street Fighter 6 and Arcade Lounge in Tekken 8, this is a large hub area where players all around the world can come together to show off their custom wrestlers, buy outfits, and wrestle.

It’s also been confirmed that this area will feature special challenges and quests which can be unlocked for new cosmetics, alongside a progression system to keep things interesting. From the trailers, it seems evident a lot of effort has gone into making this flashy online utopia as engaging as possible, so there’s no doubt it’ll be hugely popular once it becomes available.
