Why You Should Get into Fallout 76 in 2025

Fallout 76 brings Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic franchise into the world of online multiplayer, offering a fresh approach to its usual single-player gameplay. Since its beginning, Fallout has been a solo endeavor, but Fallout 76 served as a shake-up for the series. Set in the vast mountains of Appalachia, Fallout 76 not only features a unique setting that is filled with things to uncover, but it has also continued to greatly improve over time.

When it first launched, Fallout 76 was a mixed bag. Criticism of the game’s bugs and repetitive gameplay made for a rough start, but recently, Fallout 76 has been offering some of its best content yet, and 2025 is continuing this evolution forward. What’s most exciting of all, though, is that, for the first time, Fallout 76 is bringing playable ghouls to the franchise, making now the perfect time jump into post-nuclear Appalachia.

Fallout 76 Adding Playable Ghouls Makes This Year One of the Game’s Most Exciting Yet

Last Year Brought Forth a Fallout Renaissance

Ahead of the Amazon Prime’s Fallout show, many didn’t know what to expect. Of course, the trailers and marketing leading up to the premiere looked great, but the final product had the potential to not meet the expectations set by its previews. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case, and Fallout proved to be a huge streaming hit. It managed to capture the tone of Fallout incredibly well, and Walton Goggins as The Ghoul made for a standout performance. A few months later at the June Xbox Games Showcase, Bethesda confirmed that playable Ghouls would finally become reality in a Fallout game.

Ghouls mark one of the most significant updates that Fallout 76 has seen yet, and for both longtime players who have stepped away and newcomers, it makes it the best moment to get a fresh taste of surviving the wasteland. Leading up to the arrival of playable Ghouls, players now have a window of opportunity to be prepared ahead of the upcoming update that adds the feature to the game.

Fallout 76 officially brings Ghouls to the game with its March update. As of now, Bethesda has yet to confirm the exact date and time the update will drop.

How Playable Ghouls Will Work in Fallout 76

  • Players can have the opportunity to become a Ghoul when they reach level 50.
  • Once at level 50, a Ghoul-based Quest will become available.
  • As players become a Ghoul, they will receive special radiation-focused perks and abilities.

Trying Fallout 76 Now Means New Players Get A Treasure Trove of Content

Being a Fallout 76 player at the beginning was a bit rough. The potential for what the game could be was clearly there, but it had yet to reach it. Those who left the game due to frustrations over the initial lack of content and fresh players who have been curious about a multiplayer Fallout experience can now enjoy the game without having to wait year after year for huge updates.

All of Fallout 76‘s biggest updates, bug fixes, and quality of life improvements are all there, which allows incoming players to experience a far more complete game than launch day fans. Whether it be the recent Gleaming Depths raid or Milepost Zero, there is now tons of content for players to discover.

The Gleaming Depths update also allows players to have pets at their CAMP.

Between the impending addition of playable Ghouls and all the past content that has been added to Fallout 76 through the years, the game is the strongest it has ever been. The upcoming March update holds even more in store, and it will be exciting to see what waits on the horizon even after Ghouls enhance the game’s role-playing possibilities.
