The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars movies are some of the most heavily guarded in Marvel Cinematic Universe history. Marvel Studios has always been tight-lipped about what is happening within its franchise, but that is certainly the case when it comes to the upcoming couple of Avengers movies. However, that’s actually working in the favor of both films as it’s building up speculation and excitement about what could be happening and which characters might be involved.
Fans are aware that Robert Downey Jr. will be making a massive return to the MCU, this time to play Doctor Doom. However, with the multiverse open, there is no shortage of possibilities as to what could happen throughout these two movies, with Avengers: Doomsday being a film that might feature plenty of shocks. Meanwhile, the X-Men may be making their long-awaited arrival in Avengers: Secret Wars to kickstart the next run of Marvel films. Right now, that’s all up in the air, and the Russo Brothers are playing coy about the situation themselves.

RUMOR: Avengers: Doomsday Filming Delayed For What May Be A Troubling Reason
Avengers: Doomsday filming is set to be delayed, due to a troubling situation.
During a recent interview with Deadline, the Russo Brothers were asked about what surprises could be expected and whether any mutants would be involved. Joe Russo admitted, “Who knows? I don’t know. I don’t know who we’re gonna see. I still don’t know.” Anthony Russo said, “If you close your eyes and use your imagination, you can see anyone you want. Whoever tickles your fancy.” Meanwhile Joe concluded, “Anybody in the Marvel bag could show up in this movie.”
The Russo Brothers obviously don’t want to give away any potential spoilers, and they opted to be as secretive as possible with their answers. However, they recently confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will be shot in London, England. They are also set to film the two Avengers films back to back in a bid to make the most of the time available with the cast. With so many stars involved, these aren’t easy films to schedule. It has already been reported that many of Spider-Man’s scenes are going to be filmed using a stunt double due to Tom Holland’s schedule. Therefore, the Russo Brothers will be aiming to be as tactical as possible with their time.
There has been no shortage of characters rumored to be involved in these Avengers films. Chris Evans could be making a return to the MCU, this time as a variant from another timeline, although it’s believed that he will not play Captain America. There have also been talks of Thanos being involved in a scene with Doctor Doom that could be used to legitimize Downey Jr’s new character. Meanwhile, the Fantastic Four are also set to be part of an Avengers film for the first time.
It has already been confirmed that the X-Men will be coming to the MCU, and Avengers: Secret Wars is likely going to be the gateway to that era. This could lead to a lot of mutants being involved in the film, whether that’s with characters fans have already seen, such as Wolverine and Gambit, or by debuting new mutants. Either way, it appears the Russo Brothers are well aware of the high expectations they have on them for delivering some significant and memorable surprises throughout Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, and that’s a positive sign.
