Summary

  • Ultimate Guard has revealed Avatar: The Last Airbender Squaroes following its MTG set reveal.
  • Nine Avatar characters have been turned into deck boxes including Aang, Toph, and Katara.
  • There’s also a collector case that can hold eight deck boxes and a rare chase Cabbage Merchant Squaroe.

Wizards Of The Coast revealed its plans for a Magic: The Gathering Avatar: The Last Airbender set over the weekend, finally confirming something we’ve all suspected since it was teased last summer. That’s likely how Ultimate Guard was so quick to follow up on that news with some exciting Avatar TCG news of its own.

Ultimate Guard has revealed nine characters from The Last Airbender will be joining its Squaroes range. Squaroes are deck boxes that can hold up to 100 cards each (120 without sleeves), or you can use them to keep other items you need to play TCGs safe. These have been designed with Avatar’s upcoming Universes Beyond set in mind, of course, but can be used to store any TCG cards. Put some Pokemon cards in there if you like, I won’t tell anyone.

Similar to The Last Airbender‘s MTG set, Avatar’s deck boxes exclusively feature characters from the animated version of the show’s Last Airbender run. Nine of them, to be exact, which is a little annoying since the collection also includes an Appa collectors case that can hold up to eight deck boxes. If you plan on picking up all of them, you’ll just have to decide which of the nine characters gets left out each time.

Avatar: The Last Airbender’s MTG Set Is Getting Matching Squaroes

Nobody Look At The Cabbage Merchant, He’s Mine

As for which characters have made Ultimate Guard’s Squaroe cut, naturally the likes of Aang, Zuko, Toph, and Katara are all in there. Iroh and Momo have been turned into boxes too, although my favorite character to have been selected for deck box duty is the Cabbage Merchant. The merchant’s box will be a rare chase, meaning it will be more limited than the other eight options.

Ultimate Guard doesn’t appear to have opened pre-orders for its Avatar Squaroes yet, but they do have listings so it’s only a matter of time. We do know how much they’re going to cost so you can prepare for pre-orders accordingly depending on how many you intend to buy. The boxes will cost $24.99 each, and the collector’s case will be $79.99. You’ll presumably need to be quick if you want that Cabbage Merchant one, though.

The Last Airbender’s MTG set will be released on November 21, capping off what’s shaping up to be a busy year for the TCG. We’ve got the Final Fantasy set to come before that which caused quite a stir when pre-orders opened earlier this month. If you’re lucky, you might still be able to find a product or two in stock on Amazon if you want something less popular than the Final Fantasy 7 commander deck, or if you happen upon a store page just as something is being restocked.
