Heroes Of Hammerwatch 2: How To Unlock Every Class
Here’s how to unlock the Rogue, Warlock, and Sorcerer in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.
So this means you can get really wild and specific with your build for one run, see if it works, and then experiment with something else. Thanks to there being seven classes, a few of which do require unlocking, there’s a ton of variety in what kind of adventurer you can make. To help you head in the right direction, here’s a few suggestions for the best builds in Heroes Of Hammerwatch 2.
10
Warlock Horde Master
A master of dark magic that’s unlocked when you get to the Temple, the Warlock is a fun character for those that are a little tired of being a Wizard. This cheeky chap has a lot of spells, but by far the best and most broken thing about him is his summons.
For this particular build you’ll be focusing on pouring all your cash and resources into Spell Power first, then focus on a spell or weapon that does a lot of damage. This will allow you to quickly harvest essence, which can then be used on summons that spawn a lot of creatures. These helpful critters can then create more essence through kills from already heavily damaged foes, and you can already see how quickly this can get out of hand.
Combine this build with a life leech knife and the Life Siphon sphere, stack up those 10 kills for summons, rinse and repeat, and you’ll never have to worry about your health bar again.
9
The Bullet Hell Wizard
Now Wizards in general are a bit of a glass cannon as a lot of creatures are geared toward rushing you down, but with this build you can level the playing field. To make a bullet hell wizard you’ll need to have the Magic Shop, Training Grounds, Combo from the Totem Boss, and a few sphere unlocks for Magic Missile.
A high level in mana, intelligence and some mana regen items are also key as you’ll be casting a lot. Next you’ll want to focus on picking up upgrades on your run that focus on spell cooldown, Nova for Combo, and extra projectiles per spell cast to combine with your already high Spell Power. Essentially this boils down to more casts, more shots, bigger hits and more kills that will continually trigger Combo. With the slight hit-stun mobs take from spells, those rushdown moves will never be able to get near you again.
Also, picking up a Mana Crystalizer Trinket, as many Mana Regen Trinkets, Mana Gain on Spell Crit passive buffs with a Spell Crit Increase per Trinket as well. This little tweak of numbers allows you to have unlimited mana.
Shrines that temporary buff you with a bonus that removes the mana cost for your primary spell are a godsend for this build. This really lets you pop-off with projectiles for a minute or two.
8
The One Man Paladin Army
Paladins in most games are absolute powerhouses to begin with and the one in Heroes Of Hammerwatch 2 is no different. This holy warrior hits like a train, and with Lay On Hands they can just heal any damage and continue without a problem. A prime pick for first-timers, here’s a heavy hitting build to buy into.
First up you’ll need to have invested a lot in the Blacksmith to pump up those Weapon and Armour Power stats. Next you’ll need to buy a Great Axe and pick spell cooldowns and armor buffs from totems. By the time you leave the first two Forest levels, you should be on a good head start to becoming a tanky hard hitter by the end of your run.
7
Shadow Cursed Double-Dagger Rogue
For this particular build you’re going to need to do a bit of legwork, especially if you’re starting off from scratch with a new account. First you’ll need to unlock the Rogue, which requires getting to the Caves. From there you’ll also need access to Shadow Curse, which won’t appear until the Courts.

Heroes Of Hammerwatch 2: How To Unlock The Dark Citadel
Here’s how to open the entrance to the Dark Citadel in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.
Equip the Rogue and aim to get a pair of Shadow Cursed double-daggers. Now, why this works is the Rogue doesn’t focus on having high armor, so all the extra damage and stat benefits of inflicting yourself with Shadow Curse will pay off. Plus since the Rogue often focuses on dealing Crits, which is especially easy with the double-dagger setup, you’ll skyrocket your damage in no time at all.
Shadow Curse is worth taking advantage of if you’re a ranged class as you’ll often be hanging near the back of the party or attacking at a distance. It stacks up to 100 and is really only disadvantageous if you regularly wade into the melee unprepared.
6
Berserker Warrior
So whilst the above builds require a lot of extra steps, here’s one that’s super simple to get rolling. A berserk themed Warrior can be rolled pretty much out the gate, but if you put a lot of time into it they’ll start to steamroll fairly quickly.
To pull this off you’ll need a Warrior, and a two handed axe, the Whirlwind attack, and high strength. This combined will create a class that just melts anything that walks near it. Focusing on gaining high resistance also helps in later levels, although be a little careful with bosses as they can catch you in between those brief seconds when you’re not a human blender anymore.
Adding in buffs that lower the limitations surrounding Roar can help your raging Warrior regen health better.
5
Poison Shotgun Rogue
Another fairly simple melee build that will carry you to the end and right into New Game Plus is a build known as the Poison Shotgun Rogue. This one is fairly easy to throw together as you just need the Rogue, access to the Fan of Knives move, and an access to poison damage of some sort.
Whether that’s with a weapon buff or a trinket, either works. From there, just walk around hitting Fan of Knives over and over to shotgun spray highly damaging knives that inflict Poison. Enhancing this with buffs for cooldowns and Trinkets that increase Crits will also help a lot toward making this unstoppable build.
4
Ice Hammer Warrior
One of the benefits of the Warrior is that they’re easy to pick up play, quick to level up, and there’s a fair amount of versatility. A particularly fun build to try with them is turning them into a massive hammer wielding maniac that freezes everything he whacks.
To accomplish this, dump skills in Strength and Vit, equip a two-handed hammer and pump your Dash boosts and cooldown. Then select the Ice Totem Primalist in the Warriors skillset and you’ll be able to pop off a giant area of effect freezing stun, then with the Totem you can chain the freeze to extra targets. Boosting Elemental Damage with enchantments and using War Cry to reduce incoming damage is also recommended.
This build allows you to dash in, slam the hammer, chain the ice magic, then dash back out again.
3
Palpatine Chain Lightning Sorcerer
Emperor Palpatine was right, there’s nothing better than unlimited magical power. At least in a videogame that is. With this Sorcerer build you can turn into old Palps pretty easily as you zap your way with highly damaging Chain Lightning to the final boss and beyond.

Here are some beginner tips to help you get started in Heroes of Hammerwatch 2.
It’s a fairly simple magic build to throw together, just as long as you have a town with a few levels invested in the buildings. So first step, pump those Spell Power numbers and your Focus to boost your mana pool. Next, focus on the lightning powers and equip items that focus on lightning damage. Such as the Wand, Staff, Trinkets and so on. Because the game throws large groups at you, and lightning attacks chain between targets, you can absolutely melt everything as you go through a run.
2
Beastmaster Ranger
This is a fun one if you enjoy beast companions in these kinds of games. It essentially involves building a Ranger that focuses on sending out a Wolf pack, and then dealing damage from afar whilst the dogs soak up all the aggro.
To get started, select the Ranger and start unlocking their Skills surrounding summoning a Wolf in the Beastmaster skill tree. You can only get one by default, but with certain gear like bows and swords, this number can be increased to two and then three. Also, unlock Spiritual Wolves and use enchanted arrows that have a Piercing Mod attached like Cleave. Upgrading the Int and Focus will also boost the damage of your dogs and arrow skills.
You will need to summon the wolves in at the beginning of each level. It’s a little time consuming, but they’ll stay with you until they die or are summoned again.
1
The Pillar Paladin
Well we started with a Paladin build, so might as well end with one. The Pillar Paladin requires a bit of tinkering before you go running off into the wilds, first you’ll have to slip into some Mage Gear that buffs your spell cooldown. Next, equip a Kris and a Tome, then select Divine Pillars.
Don’t worry about a shield, you should be tanky enough by this point and having a shield can be detrimental to your overall DPS output. Then stick a ton of Skill Points into Focus and Intelligence to pump your Mana Pool, Spell Crit and Spell Damage. This should allow you to essentially constantly spam Divine Pillars. The combined damage level and Mana reserve volume versus the encounter size means your magic will rarely run out.
