Chapter 2 of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sees Cal tasked with researching Tanalorr on Koboh and the Shattered Moon. However, he encounters challenging puzzles in the Devastated Settlement area that, well, leave him devastated. This guide, however, provides speedy solutions for all three orb puzzles in this region, helping Jedi: Survivor players complete the mission swiftly.

Here’s the complete list of all the main, legendary, and bounty bosses in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, plus map details for finding and defeating them.
Updated on February 25, 2025, by Mohsen Baqery: With Jedi: Survivor now available as part of PlayStation Plus’ free games, many newcomers are checking out the game for the first time. One area where beginners often struggle is the puzzles, especially those involving orb couplers, like the ones in Devastated Settlement. With that in mind, this guide has been updated with more specific instructions on how to use couplers and clearer directions for finding a secret room that many players may miss during their first playthrough.
How to Get to the Devastated Settlement
From the Riverbed Watch meditation point, get to the left flank of the fort and ride the Relter to the Igneous Fissure. Then ride the mount there into the Devastated Settlement; it’s a lava field with a bunch of mud volcanoes in the middle. (Once there, a quick cutscene will introduce Cal to Caij, the bounty puck dealer, before initiating the orb puzzles.)
How to Use Couplers
- Activate couplers with orbs. They stay inactive until the player places an orb in them. Orbs are typically found near the couplers, though some may require solving a puzzle. Once an orb is located, use the Force to move it and throw it at the coupler to activate the device.
- Use Koboh Tuner Beams to dissolve Koboh Matter. Active couplers emit a purple light called a Koboh Tuner Beam. Aiming this at Koboh Matter—the dark particles blocking paths—will remove it, opening up new areas.
Coupler #1 Devastated Settlement Puzzle Solution
Starting from the Devastated Settlement meditation point, grapple to the hook on the left and climb the cliff.
Jump on the platform on the right and get into the shrine-like room.
Inside, squeeze through the wall and Force pull the cube on top.
Next, enter the main room and spin the fan-like object to move the coupler and burn down the Koboh matter on the wall.
Again, squeeze through the wall and Force pull the orb that’s in the coupler.
Throw the orb into the opening in the wall and grab it from the other side.
Finally, place the orb into the main coupler—next to the meditation point—and point it at the mud volcano across from the cliff.
Coupler #2 Devastated Settlement Puzzle Solution
After unlocking the first mud volcano, ride the mount by the Devastated Settlement meditation point and use the updraft to reach the other cliff on the right.
Squeeze through the wall crack and jump into the room where two Goroccos are waiting for Cal.
After beating the enemies, Force pull the cracked rocks on the wall to open the secret coupler.
Next, grab the orb from the amplifier on the right and put it into the coupler Cal just unlocked.
This will open the golden gate on the wall, allowing Cal to find the Koboh Grinder ability for BD-1.
Once the ability is acquired, spray some Koboh Matter on the walls to project the purple beam onto the black substances on the walls.
Leave this room and do the same for the black substances on the main hall’s walls.
Grapple to the hook that emerges from the black substances and climb the platform.
Before leaving, pull the orb from the first coupler and move it out of the shrine.
Finally, place the orb in the main coupler and unclog the second mud volcano for more updraft.
Coupler #3 Devastated Settlement Puzzle Solution
For the third and final orb puzzle in the Devastated Settlement, ride the Relter to the far side of the lava field, where a waterfall can be seen.
Kill the Raiders and creatures at the entrance and squeeze through the crack in the wall to get in.
Inside the shrine, pull the cube sitting on top.
Push this cube under the open gate. (The goal is to have it as a doorstop.)
Get in the next room and steal the orb on the coupler.
Put the orb in the other coupler in the main hall.
Block the purple beam using the cube.
Spray Koboh matter on the cube and transfer the beam into the dark substances on the nearby blocked gate.
Finally, grab the orb, put it in the coupler near the waterfall, and unclog the last mud volcano to reach the Grand Courtyard meditation point.
The Secret Room in Devastated Settlement (Jedi Chamber)
Before leaving the third coupler, players can use the Koboh Tuner Beam (purple light) to unlock the hidden Chamber of Ambidexterity. Its entrance is just below the Grand Courtyard, next to the giant golden cube on the cliff.
