Surprisingly Weak Sonic Characters

Surprisingly Weak Sonic Characters

Summary

  • Zazz’s appearance of chaos makes him seem dangerous, yet his actual strength is underwhelming.
  • Rouge appears powerful with her design, but her fighting skills are lacking compared to her allies’.
  • Metal Sonic, while a copycat of Sonic, falls short in strength and struggles to match him in battle.

The Sonic universe is packed full of powerful characters, heroes and villains alike. While they can be physically strong in terms of hand-to-hand combat, such as Knuckles for example, they can also possess unique powers or abilities that make them a formidable foe to face, though unfortunately, this doesn’t apply to everyone. Despite being hyped up as someone who could cause some real chaos, or having an appearance that makes them seem rather intimidating, there have been numerous characters who simply didn’t live up to these expectations, and if anything, ended up being pretty weak.

Sega characters outside the Sonic series have been promised for their newest Sonic racing game. Here are some who deserve to be playable.

Sometimes this is done to a character so that they don’t end up becoming too strong for Sonic to overcome, or they were simply bluffing the extent of their true power the entire time. Either way, it’s time to take a closer look at the Sonic the Hedgehog characters who felt like they were going to be a lot stronger than they actually are once they show what they’re truly made of.

The Deadly Six is a group of mischievous aliens who Sonic faces off against during the events of the Lost World game. While each of the members is incredibly unique with their own personality traits and characteristics, Zazz is seen as the most frantic and chaotic of the bunch. Aside from Zavok, who is the main antagonist of the game, it therefore seemed like Zazz was the most dangerous member of the group, that is, until players actually face him.

Most of Zazz’s boss fights consist of him simply charging up and sprinting towards Sonic, while also throwing out a few bombs every now and again, which the Blue Blur can easily avoid with his immense speed. Despite Zazz actually becoming one of the most popular characters from Lost World, he did admittedly feel a bit underwhelming strength-wise.

Rouge’s vampiric bat design, paired with the condescending smirk that can usually be seen on her face, can make it easy to assume she possesses some kind of underlying power that would make her a real threat to anyone she sees as an enemy. The truth is, though, from what’s been seen of her in the games, Rouge isn’t quite as skilled at fighting as many of her allies.

Though Sonic and his pals usually get most of the spotlight in the games, these human characters have also grown immensely popular.

Rather than taking her foes head-on, Rouge knows that her strength lies in stealth and espionage, and as so, will always decide to take a sneakier route to get her hands on some precious jewels, rather than using her fists. Though she may be a lot weaker than some may have expected, Rouge has still proven to be an invaluable ally for the team, especially when she can take to the skies to escort her allies from A to B.

Metal Sonic was designed to be a literal copycat of Sonic, meaning theoretically, he should be able to match him in terms of speed and strength. However, Metal Sonic has been bested a staggering number of times throughout the series since first appearing in Sonic CD and often feels a little too weak considering how much Eggman likes to prop him up.

Metal Sonic’s weakness would actually cause him to ponder his purpose as a machine, and to even question his master, Eggman. He’s definitely still put up a tough fight for the Blue Blur on a few occasions, such as when he assumed his mega form in Sonic Heroes, but the majority of the time, Metal Sonic never feels like too difficult of a hurdle for Sonic to overcome.

Fang is a character who has been brought back numerous times in the series since his debut in Sonic Fighters, but while he was able to hold his own in that game, he’s proven to be a fairly weak and clumsy villain since then. Fang tends to rely on his machinery to take out Sonic and the gang, and while there’s no denying he has a knack for conjuring up creative killing machines, this heavy reliance is ultimately also his biggest weakness.

Fang’s machines almost always backfire on him in the middle of battle, and when he’s left to duke it out on his own, he tends to fare pretty poorly. Still, it’s largely Fang’s charisma that has made him so beloved among the fanbase rather than his strength.

The Deadly Six were first formed thanks to Master Zik, a legendary warrior who was the one to train Zavok into the monster he would eventually become in Lost World. After seeing how much carnage Zavok is capable of causing thanks to his relentless power, many players assumed his master was going to be a truly formidable force to take on.

Best Sonic The Hedgehog Co-Op Games, Ranked

Co-op has been a staple feature of many Sonic games for decades now. These examples are the best of the bunch.

This couldn’t be further from the truth, however, as during Sonic’s duel with him, Zik decides to toss fruit at Sonic in an attempt to slow him down, rather than throwing either of his own fists. At one point in the fight, he even decides to ride on top of large food to try and steamroll over Sonic, only to be taken down time and time again. Being utterly humiliated by Sonic so early on in his adventure was truly an embarrassing moment for the leader of the dangerous Deadly Six.

When Black Doom appears at the beginning of the Shadow the Hedgehog game, his appearance presents him as a fearsome god-like being who also happens to be the leader of an entire army of aliens. Shadow may have struggled to get past the laser-blasting aliens themselves throughout his self-titled game, but Doom himself turns out to actually be pretty weak when confronted face-to-face.

His ultimate form, Devil Doom, is pretty slow and seems quite cumbersome for him to use, and it is defeated quite easily by Shadow in his super form. Even when Doom shows up again in Shadow Generations, his attempts to control Shadow end in failure for him when the black hedgehog bests him yet again. Black Doom may be able to talk the talk, but when it comes to actually getting things done and showcasing his true strength, he ultimately has been quite a big let-down.
