Star Wars Prequel Trilogy Star Shares Stories About Dealing With Haters

Summary

  • Daniel Logan, young Boba Fett actor, faced intense backlash from Star Wars fans.
  • Logan challenged haters and confronted negativity with a tough attitude.
  • Star Wars should move on from Boba Fett’s character post-Book of Boba Fett.

While Star Wars is one of the most famous franchises of all time and has a generally positive vibe, the fans can occasionally get a bit rude. One prequel-era star had a pretty interesting and age-appropriate way of dealing with the hate from displeased lovers of the original trilogy, and now he’s shared it with the fans.

Star Wars has been through many different phases over its long history, with many characters passing through the mainline theatrical projects that made the franchise a household name. While the prequel trilogy wasn’t the most well-received at the time of its release, those three films still managed to introduce many fan-favorite characters that would become mainstays in the conversation and appear in future projects. One character that appeared across the original and prequel trilogies was the menacing bounty hunter Boba Fett, who first appeared in the original trilogy as a contractor under Darth Vader, and would last be seen by fans as a young boy in the prequel trilogy project Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones before the character recently made a triumphant return in Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

One person who certainly enjoyed Boba Fett’s return is Daniel Logan, who played young Boba in the prequels and in archival footage in The Book of Boba Fett, and he might have even agreed with some of the bounty hunter’s more hands-on tactics. As reported by Popverse, Logan made an appearance at GalaxyCon Richmond, where he revealed scrapped plans for his young Boba Fett that could have settled a long-running fan debate and also gave the fans at the event an interesting retrospective on his relationship with prequel haters.

“When I first started in Star Wars, it was only original fans. If you guys remember, Jake Lloyd and me were the only two kids in Star Wars. You would have people walk by and go, ‘Oh, there goes that crappy kid that played Boba Fett.’ And I’m like [makes confused childlike face]. And they’re like, ‘Oh dude, he sucked. Episode II was the worst Star Wars film.’ Fans don’t realize, they’ll come up and be like, ‘Hi Mr. Logan. You were in Episode II and that was the worst film of Star Wars.’ And you’re just like, ‘Oh, thanks.’ What do you say to that?”

While this sort of negativity won’t come as a surprise to anyone who remembers the intensity of the backlash the prequels faced from older fans, Logan’s eventual response to the digs just might.

Young Boba Fett in Attack of the Clones

“I grew up pretty tough,” Logan continued, “and when I came into the world, I had the keyboard warriors like, ‘Oh, you suck!’ I didn’t realize now I’m a celebrity I guess, so I just went to, ‘Oh yeah? Come and say that in a parking lot. Meet me right here and we could talk about it. I’ll beat your a**!’” While this interaction is certainly hilarious in hindsight, there was one important person in Logan’s life that didn’t find it quite so humorous at the time, as Logan himself admits. “My manager was like, ‘Daniel, what are you doing? You can’t say that! That is now forever written.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care! They said this about me!’ And they’re like, ‘Yeah, it’s just someone just saying their peace, you don’t need to go back against them.’” Thankfully, there’s been a turnaround in attitudes towards Logan that mirrors the gradual increase in appreciation for the prequels overall, and it’s great to see. Since then, Logan has come back a few times to the franchise, lending his voice to characters in Star Wars games and shows, including contributing to bridging the prequels and the original trilogy with a role in The Bad Batch, and has enjoyed a much more supportive reception this time around.

While Logan’s recent comments have been great fun for fans everywhere, it’s clear post-Book of Boba Fett that Star Wars needs to move on from the character in the franchise’s current timeline. With the irreplaceable Temuera Morrison seemingly stepping away from the role, it seems like the natural time to let everyone’s favorite bounty hunter put his feet up and enjoy the spoils of his last redeeming adventure on Tatooine. In the meantime, Logan would certainly be a great pick for live-action clones that might appear in future Star Wars projects. While that won’t be quite as fun as being Boba Fett himself, the fans will certainly be nicer now.

The Star Wars franchise is available to stream on Disney+.
