Pokemon TCG Pocket Space-Time Smackdown Leaves One Card Type Wanting More

Pokemon TCG Pocket has a lot of cards, and the amount looks to keep getting bigger. Proof of that can be seen with the game being updated with new expansions, with the Space-Time Smackdown set being the most recent. The latest packs have added many interesting things to the game, from new monsters to support cards people can choose to battle with or simply collect. Still, even with the additions, Pokemon TCG Pocket feels lacking when it comes to a certain card type, one that the Space-Time Smackdown set is responsible for introducing.

Currently, there are now 620 cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, a large number considering the options it can provide to players. The content of the Space-Time Smackdown is partially responsible for that, with its packs putting in 207 new additions to the game. While it contains the monsters and item cards that people expect, it also brought in a new type called tools. These are basically items whose effects last as long as the Pokemon it’s attached to remains alive, and while they’re great, there are currently only three. Few they may be, their utility can help dictate the battle with proper usage, which is why they’re often seen on nearly every deck. Because of how well-received the new type of card is and how much it can impact the meta, perhaps The Pokemon Company should have the next update focus on adding even more.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s Leaked A2a Set May Be a Problem For The Meta if Rumors Are True

Pokemon TCG Pocket is allegedly about to launch its newest set, and it could lead to a frustrating meta if rumors surrounding it are true.

Despite being new and only having three as of now, tool cards can be considered mandatory additions when creating decks in Pokemon TCG Pocket because of the impact of their usefulness. Considering that the Pokemon franchise has many iconic items that can be repurposed into tool cards, there are a few ideas as to what could potentially be added in the future:

  • The game could eventually add in Leftovers as a tool, healing the Pokemon it’s attached to every turn
  • Life Orb can make its way into the game, allowing its equipped user to deal more damage with every attack at the cost of also receiving some
  • The Eject Button can see some action as a tool, granting the Pokemon it’s attached to an opportunity to switch out with another the moment it takes a hit and survives

If any cards are worth obtaining and spending Pack Points on, it’s the tools. Hopefully, these examples and more will eventually be introduced, as so many in the Pokemon series can make their way into the game that it would be a waste not to do so.

Why Pokemon TCG Pocket Should Have More Tool Cards

Space-Time Smackdown’s tool cards have proven to be game-changing, allowing players to overcome certain matches they otherwise would have lost. The game would benefit from having more as the effects each one can bring allow battles to be more unpredictable and engaging, ensuring a new experience with every fight. Also, more tools mean more variety when it comes to deck building, allowing people to consider things like adding more to help with their set-ups or using them to destroy others. So long as new ones aren’t too overpowered and are properly incorporated to prevent breaking the already balanced gameplay, the card type can become a staple that can be counted on for fun and exciting moments.

Future expansions for Pokemon TCG Pocket will likely include even more tool cards, and it would be good for the game for them to do so. The game needs more things to keep its battling aspect from getting stale, and additional tools can help ensure that it never does, so long as they’re executed right.
