Pokemon Fan Creates Impressive Pokemon Red Cartridge Rug

A creative and artistically skilled Pokemon fan is catching the attention of thousands of fellow fans of the franchise with their impressive rug, designed to look like the cartridge of the classic title Pokemon Red. The custom rug, which appears to be very intricately crafted and includes numerous small details, has been captivating online fans of Pokemon everywhere.

Launching in the United States in September 1998, Pokemon Red and Blue marked a watershed moment for the franchise, with the series exploding in popularity. Released alongside Pokemon TCG and the Pokemon anime series, Pokemon Red and Blue also dramatically spiked demand for Game Boy handhelds. While the first-generation Pokemon games have been well and thoroughly explored in the decades since their release, the recent Pokemon Red Blue and Yellow leak has revealed scrapped sprites among a reported terabyte of previously unavailable information.

Pokemon Fan Designs Mecha Vaporeon

A prolific Pokemon fan artist is wowing thousands of fellow fans with their impressive mecha version of fan-favorite Water-type Vaporeon.

The impressive Pokemon Red cartridge rug in question comes from a Reddit user with the apt handle of Fromhair2rugz, who posted their creation onto one of the forum website’s main Pokemon pages. The rug is an undoubtedly impressive creation, featuring all the details of a classic Game Boy cartridge, including the insertion arrow, top ridges, and the Nintendo Game Boy logo. Charizard, one of the strongest Pokemon in Pokemon Red and Blue, is beautifully recreated in its classic Ken Sugimori-style appearance in the center, creating a striking and detail-accurate Pokemon Red rug.

While the Charizard-centric rug is sure to give long-time Pokemon fans a dose of nostalgia, it isn’t the only Pokemon-themed rug to have recently been created. Another creative Pokemon fan recently created a Charjabug rug, a dual-type Bug/Electric Pokemon from Gen 7. While not as intricately designed as the Pokemon Red cartridge above, the Charjabug rug has an arguably cleaner appearance, thanks in part to the Pokemon’s more simplistic design. Both rugs are undoubtedly impressive, however, showcasing the Pokemon fandom’s seemingly boundless artistic talents.

In addition to crafting game cartridge rugs, Pokemon fans have been spinning yarn to create Charizard in other ways. One fan decided to create a crochet version of Charizard, crafted in the pose featured on the fan-favorite Pokemon’s original Pokemon TCG card. While the crocheted Charizard and the Pokemon Red cartridge rug are distinctly different projects, both of them pay homage to the early storied history of one of the most iconic Pokemon characters of all time. With certain trends seemingly flaring up within the Pokemon fandom from time-to-time, it should be interesting to see what catches on next.
