Path of Exile 2 Reveals Plans for Future Updates
Grinding Gear Games reveals its plans for future Path of Exile 2 updates, which will roll out while the ARPG is still in early access.
GGG has now shared a brief video overview teasing some of the changes coming in the 0.2.0 update for Path of Exile 2, which indicates that the developer is doubling down on this polarizing mechanic. The new patch will make all content—including bosses—able to spawn on Tower maps, which will consequently bring their clear requirements in line with regular maps. As a result, players will have to go through a familiar gameplay loop in order to activate Towers, which the developers likely hope will make for a more consistent experience.
Path of Exile 2 Is Doubling Down on Towers and Tablets
The 0.2.0 update will also introduce a random Tower generation mechanic to the Path of Exile 2 Atlas, adding some variety to the endgame mapping process. Moreover, the patch will allow Towers to gain content from tablets used on other Towers within their radius, which should encourage strategic use of resources in order to maximize their effects.
Some Path of Exile 2 Fans Want a Different Endgame
The newly teased changes have sparked mixed reactions online, partly because some fans want a different Path of Exile 2 endgame experience that’s not so Tower-centric. However, as things stand right now, the 0.2.0 update will do little to alleviate player frustrations with being forced to run maps with undesirable layouts for the sole purpose of interacting with Towers. Some fans have suggested making Towers unlock all surrounding map nodes and accept multiple tablets as a compromise solution that would still keep them highly relevant to the endgame while making them slightly less tedious. Increasing the distance at which map nodes can connect is another such idea that’s been floated around among the fandom.
The 0.2.0 update is currently planned to reach Path of Exile 2 circa late March 2025. The game itself is expected to remain in early access until at least May 2025.
