Summary

  • Epic Souvenirs in Overwatch 2 have now changed to Rare quality to ensure better loot box rewards.
  • Overwatch 2’s Season 15 introduced changes, including the return of the popular Loot Boxes feature.
  • Players are pleased with the Souvenir change as they can easily obtain them and no longer compete with high-rarity items.

A recent Overwatch 2 hotfix changed all Epic Souvenirs to be of Rare quality, ensuring that the cosmetic no longer appears in Loot Boxes that give guaranteed high-rarity items. This small adjustment makes sure Overwatch 2 fans always get exciting items like skins, victory poses, emotes, weapon charms, or highlight intros when receiving Epic rewards from Loot Boxes.

Season 15 brought some massive changes to Overwatch 2, including the playstyle-altering Perks leveling system. However, one of the most exciting parts of the update was the return of Loot Boxes – the lottery-like rewards system that was removed at the end of the original Overwatch.

One Overwatch 2 Reaper Perks Feels Like The Rework Fans Have Been Waiting For

Overwatch 2 Season 15 has arrived after much anticipation, and for Reaper mains, the new Perks system has highlighted two enticing playstyles.

A week after Loot Boxes made their triumphant return, Overwatch 2 made a small change that has had a massive impact on rare Loot Box drops. Though not detailed in any patch notes, a hotfix on February 25 adjusted all Souvenirs to be of Rare quality – including the much-memed Epic Winton Souvenir from Overwatch 2. This change was ostensibly made to ensure Souvenirs would no longer appear as Epic drops from Loot Boxes, as now, only skins, victory poses, emotes, weapon charms, or highlight intros can be found at that rarity.

All Overwatch 2 Souvenirs are Now Rare

Souvenirs are a type of emote-like cosmetic added at the start of Overwatch 2. Each hero has a unique Souvenir reveal animation that is used regardless of the Souvenir itself. There are over 100 Souvenirs in the game, each of which can be used by any hero – though Souvenirs share the same slots as emotes, meaning each character can only have a total combination of four emotes or Souvenirs equipped at once.

Players are happy to see this change made to Souvenirs in Overwatch 2. Unfortunately, the cosmetic type has never been particularly popular because of the disparity between some heroes’ animations, and their competition for space with emotes. Fans who like Souvenirs will be able to get them much more easily now that they are all Rare while ensuring they will no longer disappoint players who were hoping for a skin or other exciting customization from their guaranteed Epic Loot Box.

There are plenty of opportunities for fans to collect more Loot Boxes right now. Overwatch 2 revealed that over 100 Loot Boxes would be available during Season 15 through in-game challenges, Discord programs, and other methods. As they open these Loot Boxes, players will have a much better idea of what Epic items they might find from now on.
