Honestly, these suits in charge are completely clueless, so they just follow the recent trends and buzzwords, instead of listening to their devs and/or fans.
“Oh, we need to do GaaS! That’s where the money is”
Gamers; “We’re not interested in you doing that. We want you making SP games, like Arkham, like Shadow of Mordor/War”
Suits; “We hear ya, GaaS, always online MP, it’s gonna be great!”
“Okay, that didn’t go as planned. Oof. Okay, new plan, that new Marvel Rivals game seems populars. That’s with superheroes, we’ve got superheroes, let’s make our own ‘Rivals’ game!”
Gamers; “We already have a Rivals game, it’s pretty good. We don’t need you doing your version of it … “
Suits; “We hear ya, it’s gonna be great!”
Deep sigh.
There is plenty of cool stuff they could be doing with the DC license they hold, but honestly, suits are so obsessed about the greedy milking aspect of gaming that they forget about the whole gaming aspect of gaming. As in, it has to be a good/great game first to draw people to your product.
