Summary
- Groot can win Convergence matches at Central Park within seconds.
- The “Groot Skip” tactic uses his Thornlash Wall ability to reach the capture point in no time.
- I am Groot.
Marvel Rivals players were worried that they’d have to change up their strategies after The Fantastic Four’s Human Torch and The Thing would arrive and break the meta. Johnny Storm’s abilities and fire tornado team up with Storm were particularly worrying for fans. However, it seems the two have blended into the hero shooter without disrupting the meta.

Forget New Heroes, Marvel Rivals Needs To Implement Cross Progression
For a game with so much going for it, it’s a bit bizarre that it has this oversight.
While there are players who have already made significant progress with the new characters, it seems the new Central Park is particularly suited to everybody’s favourite sentient tree. Launched alongside the new characters, Central Park is currently home to Dracula’s castle, giving the otherwise green spot a gothic makeover. The structure of the map is perfect for Groot, who can finish off matches in no time.
Groot Dominates Marvel Rivals’ Central Park Map
It seems that the Central Park map is created in such a way that it allows Groot to use his abilities to quickly reach the capture point without having to hurdle the entire middle section. What’s more? This tactic allows the entire team to follow Groot, resulting in a flash ambush of the capture point before the enemy team even knows what’s happening.
As demonstrated by themilesmeyer on Instagram (thanks, VideoGamer), the “Groot Skip” can be performed while playing Convergence mode on the Central Park map and being on the attacker side. On the right of the spawn room doors is a ledge, where Groot can carefully place two Thornlash Walls horizontally as platforms to jump onto a ledge near the capture point.
Additionally, you can block off opposing players with another Thornlash Wall and give your team an easy victory before the enemy even knows what happened. If done quickly, you can win the match in a matter of seconds. However, there are some players who are now wise to this technique and are using Peni Parker’s Arachno-Mines to cover the area.
Considering that the technique is still relatively new, it’s likely that not many players will know about it, and you’ll be able to use it in at least a few matches before they become wiser to it.
