Now, countering Marvel Rivals’ Human Torch isn’t as easy as it seems. Spider-Man’s Web-Cluster and Get Over Here! abilities are enough to disrupt Johnny Storm and take him out in a flash. The important parts of any Marvel Rivals’ Human Torch counter are mobility and high damage, and Spider-Man has those in spades. Plus, his Web-Cluster’s cooldown has been reduced from 3s to 2.5s. This can make a lot of difference in a match.

Hawkeye

One-Shot Potential And Fly-Cancel Ability

Hawkeye’s kit in Marvel Rivals makes him dangerous for any hero, especially someone squishy. His primary move, Piercing Arrow, deals a great chunk of damage. When charged up, it’s essentially a one-shot against non-Vanguards. Landing a headshot isn’t simple, but Johnny isn’t particularly quick and one good shot is all that’s needed. The afterimages from Hawkeye’s ultimate also make Human Torch vulnerable in Marvel Rivals, even if he’s trying to escape.

Further, his Hypersonic Arrow slows down enemies, and in the case of flying superheroes, drops them out of the sky. This move alone makes Hawkeye a superb Human Torch counter in Marvel Rivals — allies can freeze Johnny on the ground, put him to sleep, stun him, or even use Groot to block him within walls.

Iron Man

Good Mobility And Unibeam Dominate Human Torch

Iron Man’s mobility is key to avoiding Johnny Storm’s attacks. What makes him particularly dangerous is that his Unibeam ability has been buffed to 140 DPS, hiking up to 190 in Armor Overdrive. This prioritizes taking down Iron Man in Marvel Rivals, opening Johnny up to direct or indirect attack.

There’s more that makes Tony Stark a great Human Torch counter in Marvel Rivals. His Repulsor Shots deal quite a bit of damage; clubbing this and Unibeam with Storm in the current three-DPS, flying hero meta makes him dangerous. Iron Fist

Iron Fist was buffed with the launch of Marvel Rivals Season 1.5. He now comes with 50 more base HP, 100 more bonus meditation bonus HP, and 50 more Dragon’s Defense bonus HP. While his melee strikes deal less damage, his kit makes him an absolute menace to deal with in any match.

Iron Fist is one of the few Marvel Rivals’ Human Torch counters that can chase him throughout the map and take away his aerial advantage. His knockback and damage reduction easily disturb enemies. This leaves them confounded and almost unable to defend themselves. Moreover, Iron Fist’s ultimate is one of the strongest single-target abilities in the game, capable of countering Human Torch in Marvel Rivals with ease.

The Punisher

The Punisher is one of the best Human Torch counters in Marvel Rivals, period. His long-range, hard-hitting primary fire is an easy deterrent for any superhero main roaming the skies. Moreover, using his grappling hook correctly can make chases relatively simple.

The Culling Turret may be immobile, but it has a shield and it absolutely shreds any character. It’s essentially one of The Punisher’s best moves in Marvel Rivals. Setting up in a vantage spot will allow players to take Johnny down before he knows what’s going on. Last but not the least, his ultimate. The Punisher’s ultimate is massively overpowered, and is easily one of Marvel Rivals’ top Human Torch counters at the moment. It’s also quite effective against all heroes, even Vanguards, so a teamwipe is always on the table.

Hela

Great Primary And Secondary Fire, Ult Included

Hela’s primary and secondary attacks deal a good chunk of damage. Given that Johnny is airborne and not particularly quick, players can easily take him down in two-to-three solid hits. Her stun, too, is incredibly helpful in the culling movement. Moreover, Hela’s ultimate in Marvel Rivals is capable of wiping out half the enemy team without any issue, even those in the air.

Another key factor that makes Hela a good Human Torch counter in Marvel Rivals is that she can turn into a bird and easily escape a hellish onslaught. She also adds team viability, by using her last hits to either resurrect Loki and Thor, or give them bonus health.

Using their auto-targeting abilities, along with Namor’s own primary and secondary attacks, means that even aerial heroes are no longer a threat. Essentially, these make him a great Human Torch counter in Marvel Rivals.

Another key of Namor’s kit is his Blessing of the Deep protective barrier. This can help players evade attacks, reposition, or even retreat to get more heals. Doing so will net them enough time to flank or rejoin the fight with Monstro turrets.
