If you somehow weren’t sure of how dark Daredevil: Born Again will be, Charlie Cox wants you to know the show starts with a “a very traumatic event” right off the bat.

There’s all sorts of things that could happen in Daredevil: Born Again, most of which we’ll have to wait and discover given that the show isn’t actually out yet, but one thing I know for certain? The show will be like, so dark, man, it’s gonna be really brutal and grounded and “batsh*t” wild. Born Again being so heavy has been a big selling point from cast and crew alike, and once again the stars of the show are here to tell you that you’re in for an emotionally bad time. Speaking in a recent interview with ExtraTV, Matt Murdock himself, Charlie Cox, shared that the show starts off in a pretty “brutal” way.

“At the beginning of this season, there’s a very traumatic event, which is going to change Matt Murdock’s life,” Cox said. “He’ll probably never be the same again.” Interestingly, though, the actor doesn’t seem so sure of the moment just yet, as he went on to say, “I’m still not convinced it’s the right thing to do, but we have to come back big and bold, you know, we’ve got to make a statement after all these years away, and what it does do is it’s a wonderful catalyst for the rest of the story.” What could that event be? Couldn’t tell you! I’m not psychic, so you’ll just have to wait and find out.

Cox did also go on to hype up the show’s action, saying that there’s some “iconic moments. There’s a great oner in the first episode that is our trademark, and then there’s this fight sequence later on, I think Episode 6 maybe, that mirrors something that’s happening over on Wilson Fisk’s storyline which is pretty cool, something we haven’t done in the past. So, there’s a lot to like.”

In any case, you don’t have all that long to wait for Daredevil: Born Again now anyway, as it’s due out next week, March 4, on Disney Plus.
