The quest that unlocks furniture customization is called The Fun In Furniture. This quest consists of two parts, but there are no requirements for the second part besides completing the first one.

To unlock The Fun In Furniture, you’ll need to reach friendship level five friendship with My Sweet Piano. If you find yourself struggling to give her gifts in these early stages of friendship, consider some of the following items.

Here at TheGamer, we gave her a bunch of Woodblocks until better gifts could be crafted.

Once you reach friendship level five, the quest will unlock, and you can start it by speaking with her.

The first part of this quest is quite simple; you need to give My Sweet Piano the following items.

Iron Ore can be found around Mount Hothead, Woodblocks can be crafted with Sticks, and Mechanisms can be crafted with Gizmos (from Chococat).

After giving her these items, you’ll need to wait one real-life day in order to start the second part.

How To Complete The Fun In Furniture: Part Two

Now, it’s time to start the final part! Speak with My Sweet Piano again, and she will tell you about the joys of the Furniture Customizer. To start, you’ll be tasked with customizing a Cottage Dining Chair.

This chair needs to be crafted first; you previously obtained the crafting plan when reaching friendship level four with My Sweet Piano. Head to the crafting station, where you will make the chair with the following items.

Wool is given by My Sweet Piano in return for giving her a gift. If you don’t have enough Wool, just give her a gift or two.

After making the chair, head back into Small Gift Big Smile and interact with the Furniture Customizer. The interface of the station is simple; choose the furniture item, and then choose the customization option that you want.

To customize, you’ll need the required dyes. For this quest, you can go ahead and choose any color scheme. Once customized, speak with My Sweet Piano who is now joined by My Melody. A short conversation will occur, and then the quest will be done! You’ll now be able to use the Furniture Customizer whenever you feel like it.

What Can Be Customized?

Not everything can be customized. Fortunately, when you interact with the Furniture Customizer, you’ll see all items in your inventory that can be customized. If a certain piece of furniture is missing, then you won’t be able to change its appearance.

How to Customize

There are four different types of furniture customization to keep in mind, separated into the following categories.

These categories are based on the furniture itself. For example, the Antique Standing Lamp has Wood and Fabric customization, since that is what the lamp is made of. The Beanbag, on the other hand, is just Fabric.

If a furniture item has more than one category, you can customize them separately.

There are a lot of different color schemes for each category, so feel free to click around and see what works for you. You’ll be able to preview the pattern even if you don’t have enough materials. If you do happen to be lacking materials, you see a circle with a line through it in the corner of the color option.

By clicking ‘Craft’ (if you don’t have enough material), you will be able to see the exact materials needed, including what you are missing.
