- Epic has revealed it’s shutting down Fortnite OG’s Ranked Zero Build servers.

- Server shut downs will begin on March 4 with NAC and EU servers remaining active until March 25.
The temporary return of Fortnite‘s original map in 2023 proved so popular that a year later, Epic made it a permanent mode dubbed Fortnite OG. However, it seems not all of OG’s forms are as popular as others. Epic has revealed it will be shutting down servers for OG’s Ranked Zero Build mode starting on March 4, 2025, seemingly citing low player counts as the reason for ditching it.
Epic broke the news via the Fortnite Status account it uses to share more official news that’s not as flashy as announcements about things like crossover skins and in-game concerts. The OG Ranked Zero Build server shutdown will begin on March 4 with Brazil, Oceania, the Middle East, and Asia among the first regions to have their servers turned off once that date gets here, and it’s less than a week away.

Even if you do live in those parts of the world, there will still be ways for you to carry on playing OG Ranked Zero Build until the mode is completely shut down on March 25. The post notes that anyone who lives in a region where the servers have been turned off will be able to change the server they’re accessing via the in-game settings. You will need to switch to the NAC or EU servers that will remain active for an additional three weeks.
Fortnite OG’s Ranked Zero Build Mode Is Not Long For This World
The Server Shutdown Begins Next Week
This isn’t necessarily the end for OG’s Ranked Zero Build mode either. Fortnite Status’s post signs off by confirming the mode might return in the future, noting it will continue to monitor “matchmaking health” which is the phrase suggesting a lack of interest in the mode is what has led to its premature shutdown. If it’s a mode you’d like to see stick around, now’s the time to play it. A sustained spike in numbers during what will be OG Ranked Zero Build’s final month, at least for now.
The second season of Fortnite’s sixth chapter kicked off at the end of last week with players getting to grips with the changes to the map and the game overall. Battle Pass holders can unlock a Sub-Zero skin by hitting level 100, and there will seemingly be a Scorpion skin joining it at some point in the coming weeks or months.
Unfortunately, there’s still no official sign of Yakuza characters dropping in. The rumor that Kiryu and Majima might be getting Fortnite skins started a year ago but ramped back up during the build to the new season. Perhaps the bat players spotted in this season’s key art wasn’t Ichiban’s Hero’s Bat after all.
