Former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida wants to visit Nintendo’s headquarters now that he has the time to spare. Yoshida was a part of PlayStation since its inception in 1993, eventually becoming President of SIE Worldwide Studios for Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2008. He would hold onto this position until 2019, when he stepped down as part of a massive corporate reshuffling. Yoshida would then head a new division centered around supporting external independent creators, while former Guerrilla Games studio head Hermen Hulst took over his old position.
Last November, Shuhei Yoshida announced that he would be leaving PlayStation altogether after over 30 years at the company. His departure was made official on January 15, with fellow industry executives like Xbox head Phil Spencer giving him praise for his efforts in helping to build PlayStation into the juggernaut brand it is today and nurturing the smaller indie game landscape. Yoshida hasn’t really specified what his next career move will be, only that he would like to lend a hand to indie teams from time to time.

Former PlayStation Exec Shuhei Yoshida Wants to Visit Nintendo HQ
While he has spent a good bit of his career working for one of Nintendo’s direct competitors, Shuhei Yoshida has complemented the Big N in the past. Earlier this month, he shared his thoughts on the recent Nintendo Switch 2 reveal, which left him impressed and hoping for more surprises in the future. He also expressed his concern about the many Nintendo Switch 2 leaks that spread before the console was unveiled, which managed to spoil some of the new system’s features and technical specifications.
Shuhei Yoshida also had plenty to say about the future of PlayStation before his departure last month, and even stated that he would like to try his hand at voice acting in a game someday. PlayStation (and the video game industry as a whole) owes much to Yoshida and his over 30-year tenure at Sony’s gaming division, and he has hinted that leaving the company he helped develop is just the start of a new chapter for him – a chapter that might include a trip to Nintendo’s main headquarters in Kyoto, Japan.
