His departure was made official on January 15, with fellow industry executives like Xbox head Phil Spencer giving him praise for his efforts in helping to build PlayStation into the juggernaut brand it is today and nurturing the smaller indie game landscape. While speaking to Japanese gaming website Gamer.ne.jp (as translated by Twitter user Genki_JPN), Yoshida noted that he has never visited Nintendo’s HQ before, and would love to do so if he gets an invite in the future.
