To level fast in Avowed, players can follow these five leveling tips that will help players hunt down all potential sources of XP.

However, when it comes to a Romance system, Avowed comes up a bit short. That’s not to say that there is no romance at all in Avowed – but to get the hidden romance ending, which is the only true romance unlock in the game, you’ll have to fulfill certain requirements throughout the game.

Does Avowed Have A Romance System?

Unfortunately, Avowed does not have a Romance system. You will be able to recruit several companions to your side throughout the game, and there are plenty of ways to bond with your companions, learn more about them, and even take on unique quests for them.

But Avowed does not let players romance their companions. Compared to a game like Baldur’s Gate 3 or Cyberpunk 2077, there isn’t as much depth to the relationship system in Avowed. The game is more focused on its exploration and sense of discovery, a varied and satisfying combat system, and other aspects of the RPG genre.

An Epilogue Exception

That’s not to say there’s absolutely no romance in Avowed. In fact, if you make specific choices, it’s possible to unlock an ending with Kai that strongly hints at a relationship budding between him and the Envoy.

It does not matter which body type you choose in character creation, it’s possible to get the romance Kai ending with all possible customizations – even if you’re covered in mushrooms, or a piece of bark covers your face, you just have to make the right decisions to romance Kai.

To get this ending, you must improve your relationship with him by making selfless, morally-guided decisions (like letting Ygwulf go at the end of ‘An Untimely End’), then complete Kai’s ‘Battle Scars’ quest and romance him after. In the ending epilogue, you will see a slide of Kai and the Envoy having a romantic picnic together under a tree.
