Disney Dreamlight Valley's New Cooking Features Are Game Changers

Disney Dreamlight Valley features all the standard tasks of most simulation games. Players must fish, mine, dig, water, and perform all sorts of other physical activities while also maintaining friendships with Disney Dreamlight Valley’s many villagers. But cooking plays an especially important role in this hit simulation game. Each update and new Expansion Pass created for Disney Dreamlight Valley features at least a handful of new recipes.

Despite being so prevalent in the game, players have had their gripes about cooking. Fortunately, Disney Dreamlight Valley’s latest update, Tales of Agrabah, includes some quality of life improvements that could make this gameplay staple even better.

The new Gem Stall heading to Disney Dreamlight Valley fits the Tales of Agrabah update, but the feature could’ve been fitting for another princess.

Tales of Agrbah Includes Four Cooking Quality of Life Improvements

Disney Dreamlight Valley’s patch notes for the Tales of Agrabah update specifically advertise four cooking improvements that the update provides. All of these improvements have been features that players have been asking Gameloft to add for ages, in part due to the quantity of recipes that have been added to Disney Dreamlight Valley since launch.

The first improvement directly addresses the massive book of recipes players must sort through. Prior to Tales of Agrabah, players were forced to scroll through the over two hundred recipes Disney Dreamlight Valley has in its base game. With the game’s two Expansion Passes, A Rift in Time and the Storybook Vale, adding even more recipes on top of that, players who purchase DLC have an even longer list to sort through. Fortunately, the Tales of Agrabah update will give players a recipe search bar to assist with their searches.

Players also no longer have to search high and low for meal requests from Villagers, whether they be restaurant orders or quest specific. New sorting tabs, seemingly for both kinds of meal requests, will be available for players. The patch notes for the Tales of Agrabah update make no mention of where these tabs will be located, but it would make sense for them to be a separate pop-up that appears when a player is accessing a cooking station.

With the multitude of requests flooding in from Villagers, Disney Dreamlight Valley will also be adding a new slow cooker during the Tales of Agrabah update. Players can queue up multiple meals with the new device at the cost of a few Dreamlight. Once again, the Tales of Agrabah patch notes do not mention the amount of Dreamlight players will have to pay to use the new device.

Tales of Agrabah’s Biggest Update Has Been Highly Requested

But the biggest and most requested improvement made in the Tales of Agrabah update will save players their hard-earned resources when crafting meals. Per the patch notes: “Recipes with generic requirements will select suitable ingredients, prioritizing the highest quantity of resources available.”

This new feature clearly expands upon the ingredient menu that pops up when players interact with a cooking station and its “autofill” option. Many Disney Dreamlight Valley recipes call for non-specific ingredients. These “Any” recipes will call for “Any vegetable” or “Any spice” as one of the ingredients. If a player has the autofill option turned on, it’s likely that more valuable resources will be used to craft even low-star recipes.

Therefore, this new feature is revolutionary, as players no longer have to worry about hard-to-find resources being wasted. This also lets players save specific ingredients for recipes where they are required. Recipes with higher star amounts not only require more ingredients, but often require these more obscure items. Improving this aspect of ingredient autofill was a long time coming, as Disney Dreamlight Valley players have griped about losing ingredients for ages.

While these quality-of-life cooking improvements may not be the main focus of the Tales of Agrabah update, it certainly seems that they are among the features that some Disney Dreamlight Valley players are looking forward to most.
