Delta Force‘s free Black Hawk Down remake has launched to “Mostly Negative” reviews on Steam due to its high difficulty, poor performance, and “unreasonable” AI.
Late last year, Team Jade rebooted the long-missing in-action Delta Force series as a free-to-play shooter that melded together Battlefield, Escape from Tarkov, and, surprisingly, Overwatch. The end result was, just like both the Steam reviews and TheGamer’s review make clear, a little mixed, with players liking the shooting and graphics, but finding it uninspired overall.

Although the multiplayer parts of Delta Force split the community a bit, there was some hope that the post-launch single-player campaign, Black Hawk Down, would brighten things up a bit. That doesn’t appear to be the case, however, as the campaign is being met with some very negative reviews since its launch last week.
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Is Getting Some Brutal Reviews On Steam
As the name suggests, Black Hawk Down is a remake of the campaign featured in the series’ most well-known game from 2003. Considering how beloved the original Delta Force: Black Hawk Down is by tactical FPS fans, there was a lot of hope for the new game’s interpretation of it. One look at the Steam reviews shows that it hasn’t met those expectations.
As reported by Insider Gaming, Black Hawk Down currently sits at a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam with over 3,700 reviews as of the time of writing. Only 36 percent of those reviews are positive, with the rest absolutely blasting the free campaign for a multitude of reasons. While some, like poor performance and optimisation, are fairly unsurprising, there is one common complaint – the difficulty.
Many of the reviews point out that Black Hawk Down has some “impossible” difficulty spikes, with Steam user KILLER QUEEN sharing a detailed list of some of the issues. According to them, enemy AI can headshot you before you even see them while your teammates are useless, RPGs and mortar shots can come out of nowhere, and there are no resupplies or health pickups.
The difficulty is just one part of the problem, though, as another detailed review from user V3ndetta calls it “one of the most disappointing things” they’ve ever played. This is due to the campaign’s apparent lack of “soul”, poor voice acting and in-game animation, and, as noted above, horrible AI. It looks like Black Hawk Down isn’t the Delta Force saviour some were hoping for.
