How to Catch Treasured Fish In Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves Season 15 introduces Treasured Fish to the seas, which are unique fish from regular and Trophy fish in the game. Not only are Treasured Fish even bigger than Trophy fish, but they also operate like loot items, meaning you can’t cook them, eat them, or store them in your inventory. Instead, you can place Treasured Fish straight on the deck of your ship when caught ready to sell later, meaning that other players can also grab and steal them. You can catch different types of Treasured Fish, such as Treasured Devilfish, Pondies, Ancientscales, Stormfish, Plentifins, and Wreckers.
To catch Treasured Fish in Sea of Thieves, you must launch and complete either of the following Hunter’s Call Fishing Voyages from the Quest Table on your ship:
- A Pirate’s Fishing Map Voyage – three Treasured Fish to catch near a small island.
- A Hunter’s Fishing Map – six Treasured Fish to catch near a large island.
Fishing Voyages give you a Fishing Map accessible via Quests in your Radial Menu, showing the location of Treasured Fish at either one or two circles or shoals on the map, which tend to be near or not far from either a small or large island. The Fishing Map also specifies the island where you need to find and locate the shoals, which appear like bubbles on the water’s surface. Treasured Fish also glow at night, making them easier to spot if sailing in the dark.
A Pirate’s Fishing Map contains one circle with three Treasured Fish to catch by fishing inside the circle. A Hunter’s Fishing Map gives you two circles with three Treasured Fish inside, giving you six Treasured Fish to catch. After catching all the Treasured fish in each circle, the Voyage is complete. Helpfully, if you fail to catch a Treasured Fish the first time around, it will reappear in the circle, enabling you to try again.
You also don’t need bait to catch Treasured Fish, so you can start fishing for them straight away once located. You also catch Treasured Fish using the Fishing Rod, just like when catching fish in Sea of Thieves in the usual way.
Most Profitable Fish in Sea of Thieves
How much gold you get for catching regular or Trophy fish in Sea of Thieves depends upon several things:
- Whether it is a regular or a Trophy variety.
- Whether it is raw, undercooked, cooked, or burnt.
If you can learn how to cook fish to perfection, you can get the most profit when selling fish to the Hunter’s Call Trading Company, as properly cooked fish sell for more money, such as large Trophy versions of rare fish, which are often worth more money given their rarity. Some of the most profitable cooked Trophy fish in Sea of Thieves are as follows:
- Trophy Shadow Stormfish – 16,875 gold
- Trophy Snow Wrecker – 14,065 gold
- Trophy Sand Battlegill – 14,065 gold
- Trophy Forsaken Devilfish – 11,250 gold
- Trophy Muddy Wildsplash – 11,250 gold
- Trophy Bonedust Plentifin – 11,250 gold
- Trophy Bone Ancientscale – 11,250 gold
- Trophy Raven Islehopper – 3,940 gold.
Most Valuable Treasured Fish in Sea of Thieves
Of course, Treasured Fish can also be highly valuable in Sea of Thieves, especially if you catch certain ones. While you’ll also typically get more gold if sailing as an Emissary, such as for the Hunter’s Call, some of the most profitable Treasured Fish in Sea of Thieves are currently the Treasured Starshine Stormfish and Treasured Zest Battlegill. These are worth around 4,500 gold at base value and much more when cashing them in as a Grade V Emissary. Just be sure to sell any Treasured Fish you catch to a Hunter’s Call Representative at a Sea of Thieves Outpost or Seapost instead of to the Sovereigns to ensure you get maximum profits.
