With FF14 7.2 about a month away now, Square Enix is enticing you to make an early return to the MMORPG with the launch of its regularly scheduled Moogle Treasure Trove event. Starting today and lasting until the launch of the next FF14 Dawntrail patch, you can rack up a special set of Tomestones used to buy all manner of treats, including mounts, outfits, and emotes that are typically much harder to get your hands on. It’s a good reason to log back in and make sure you’re ready for what promises to be the biggest post-Dawntrail update so far.
We got a full look at everything coming in the next Final Fantasy 14 update courtesy of the recent Live Letter 85, and there’s a lot to look forward to. The big highlights are the Occult Crescent, a successor to long-form multiplayer grind zones Eureka and Bozja, and the interplanetary Cosmic Exploration for crafters and gatherers. Patch 7.2 is aimed for release in “late March” (I’m expecting Tuesday March 25, based on the reliable schedule the MMORPG typically sticks to). But from now until it launches, you can take part in the new Moogle Treasure Trove event ‘The Hunt for Phantasmagoria’ to earn plenty of goodies.
If you’ve ever taken part in a Moogle Tomestone event before, you’ll know what to expect. If you’re new, the gist is that you earn a special currency (in this case the Irregular Tomestones of Phantasmagoria) from completing a selection of content including dungeons, trials, raids, and alliance raids. There are also weekly objectives and special challenges offering even bigger payouts. These can then be cashed in for a selection of rewards, which are typically pulled from older activities and often would require you to grind for a long time in order to secure them normally. It’s a nice way to bolster player activity in the downtime before a new update, and a great option to pick up some particularly rare prizes.

Among the items up for grabs this time around is the stylish Inferno Jacket, a previously limited-time item that hasn’t been available for several years, so don’t miss your chance to get one. There are also several mounts on offer. The Shadow Gwiber normally requires farming the final boss of Shadowbringers on Extreme difficulty, the Falcon is a former veteran player reward, and the Magicked Bed is one that’s typically crafted by carpenters (so check the marketboard for prices on that final one before you commit).
The Queen’s Guard Barding for your Chocobo is a drop from Bozja dungeon Delubrum Reginae – an encounter worth seeking out, but one that’s a little hard to pursue these days. The Ancient One minion is a random reward from Shadowbringers dungeon Anamnesis Anyder, while the Primal Angel Orchestrion Roll requires farming that particular expansion’s raid series.
Elsewhere, there’s the fantastic, braided Form and Function hairstyle (typically requiring you to delve all the way into Stormblood’s Eureka Pyros, which is quite a time investment). The Pleasant Dot Parasol is another Bozja drop made more accessible here, and leaning emote The Winsome Wallflower would normally ask for Skybuilders’ Scrips, but you can pick it up here cheaply. Finally, the Paissa Earring is a brand-new fashion piece for anyone who’s looking to complete their collection – this one has never been seen before, and there’s no telling if or when it will be available again, so don’t hesitate if you want it.
That’s not the full list, however. There are even more armor pieces, room decorations, Triple Triad cards, minions, and even some other mounts including a few from older extreme trials. Also well worth picking up at 15 tomestones a piece are the Special Timeworn Maps, which give you guaranteed runs of Treasure Hunt dungeons from past expansions. Sadly there’s not yet one for Dawntrail’s Cenote Ja Ja Gural, however, so you’ll have to keep trying your luck on that.
The FF14 Moogle Treasure Trove event is live now as of Wednesday February 26, 2025 and runs until the release of patch 7.2, which we estimate will fall on Tuesday March 25. You can check the Square Enix special site for details of all the activities and rewards available.
