The Wonder Woman video game teaser showed the title character wielding her iconic Lasso of Truth and reports over the years suggested that the game would utilize the Nemesis system featured in Monolith’s Middle-earth games, but little else was ever revealed about the project. After years of seemingly troubled development, the plug has been pulled on the Wonder Woman game and the studio has been shut down.

Wonder Woman may be a highlight of the DCEU, but even Amazons have their weak points. Here are the greatest weaknesses she has.

This is according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who broke the news on Bluesky. According to Schreier, not only has the long-in-development Wonder Woman video game been canceled, but Warner Bros. Games has shut down developer Monolith Productions, WB San Diego, and Player First Games, the latter of which was in charge of the failed free-to-play Super Smash Bros.-like MultiVersus.

WB Has Canceled the Wonder Woman Game

Various reports over the years have painted a bleak picture of the Wonder Woman game’s development. Rumors suggested that the game would be a live-service title, or at least incorporate live-service elements, which shook fans’ confidence in the project. The lack of meaningful updates on the game over the years was also certainly not a good sign, though the cancellation of the Wonder Woman project and the shuttering of Monolith Productions still comes as a shock.

Monolith Productions was formed in 1994 and was acquired by Warner Bros. in 2004. Under the WB banner, Monolith released some of its memorable works, including the first two F.E.A.R. games, the Condemned duology, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War and Shadow of Mordor. Monolith’s last game was 2017’s Middle-earth: Shadow of War, which was generally well-received, but didn’t quite reach the same heights as its predecessor.

WB has suffered multiple high-profile video game misfires in recent years. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was a disaster for the company, and MultiVersus is on the verge of shutting down after years in development. The company has also had some hits, like Hogwarts Legacy‘s incredible sales success and the ever-popular Mortal Kombat series. Upcoming projects reportedly include a Hogwarts Legacy sequel and a new Batman game from Rocksteady, but there isn’t much known about either at the time of this writing.
