Warcraft Rumble has officially confirmed that the Lich King is coming to the mobile game in the near future. While few details are currently known about this new Warcraft Rumble mini, players can expect the iconic WoW villain to arrive in March.

2024 was a great year for Warcraft Rumble, featuring the arrival of Raids, Sieges, the Cenarion family, and Split Leaders. Warcraft Rumble also finally saw a PC launch in December, bringing the “Tower Offense” mobile game to a whole new platform. In 2025, Warcraft Rumble has received a few events and new minis, but nothing groundbreaking yet.

With little fanfare, Warcraft Rumble stealthily buffs one of the worst units in the game in an attempt to make it a more viable choice.

However, Warcraft Rumble recently surprised fans with a rather unexpected announcement. The Lich King, the iconic lord of the Scourge in World of Warcraft, is coming to the game soon as a new Leader. Little information is known about the character at present, though players can catch a glimpse of the Lich King in Warcraft Rumble’s latest trailer and can expect to hear more about him in the weeks leading up to his release in March.

The Lich King is Coming to Warcraft Rumble

The Lich King will definitely be a Leader for the Undead family, though it is possible he could be a Split Leader for the Alliance, given his former life as Prince Arthas of Lordaeron. The armored master of the Scourge is known for wielding Frostmourne, a cursed Runeblade, so he will likely be a tanky melee Leader. The reveal blog also mentioned Remorseless Winter and Frost Fever – two iconic Frost Death Knight abilities in World of Warcraft – so his kit may include these as well.

It remains to be seen if the Lich King will be obtained via an in-game event, as a seasonal reward, or through some other means. Many fans are hoping he could even be unlocked by completing a potential new Icecrown Citadel raid – similar to the Ragnaros Leader from beating Molten Core in Warcraft Rumble – where he would undoubtedly serve as the final boss.

While players are understandably excited to see the Lich King arrive in Warcraft Rumble, there are a lot of questions about why Blizzard chose now to do it. Wrath of the Lich King was the third World of Warcraft expansion to be released, and there is plenty of content from Classic and The Burning Crusade that hasn’t been added yet. That said, not every Warcraft Rumble Leader is from vanilla WoW; Maiev did not show up until The Burning Crusade, Anub’Arak until Wrath of the Lich King, and Orgrim Doomhammer and Grommash Hellscream died in Warcraft 2 and 3, respectively. Either way, with no roadmap for the future of the game, Warcraft Rumble fans will have to wait and see if any other content will be added alongside the Lich King.
