Tiny Pasture is a new cozy game for PC players, which runs at the bottom of the screen while they work, study, or browse. The key gameplay loop involves raising and caring for various animals, including cats, alpacas, capybaras, and even ghosties. While the game flows well, its’ tutorial is very short, and new players may not understand all the mechanics at first.

Unlock Animals Quickly

Because More Options Are Always Better

One of the core mechanics of Tiny Pasture is unlocking new animal types. This is a great way to increase your earnings because higher animals have better base earning rates. Additionally, it gives you more adorable critters to collect!

To unlock various animals, players will need to complete a series of goals. The goal for each animal, and the player’s current progress toward it, can be seen by hovering over a locked animal in the store. For a brief overview of how to unlock each animal, see the table.

Don’t Leave The Game Running While AFK

Because Hungry Animals Are Sick Animals

tiny-pasture-screenshot-3

While the animals on the pasture don’t need constant attention, leaving the game running while away from the keyboard for extended periods can cause issues. Over time, the fullness meter of each pet falls – they get hungry. When it reaches zero, the poor things start to get sick.

Not only do sick animals not earn coins like their healthy counterparts do, but it’s also just sad. To heal them, players will need to pay for medicine (in the shop next to the food). Depending on their level of sickness and which medicine type is used, this can take several doses. Medicine isn’t cheap either, which can further eat away at their earnings and slow down game progression.

Once the automation facilities such as the Cuckoo House are unlocked, leaving the game running becomes much less problematic. If players plan to ignore the game for long periods, this facility is a must.

3

Focus on the Animal With The Highest Earning Potential

Not All Critters Are Created Equal

Animals have different earning rates based on their species and rarity. Species that appear later on in the shop list generally have higher earnings potential. However, rarity can have a big impact on an animal’s earning rate – it is not uncommon for high-rarity animals of a cheaper species to out-earn common animals of more expensive species. To compare what the animals in the pasture earn, select the house icon in the bottom left, and view the details page for each pet.

Thus, it is important to have animals with the highest possible rarity. Rarity is decided randomly when the critter is bought or is based on the parents of a bred animal. There are five possible options – each indicated by stars. Five stars, also called rainbow animals, are the highest rarity.

Ensuring High Rarity Animals

If players want to guarantee high-rarity animals, such as the coveted Rainbow rarity animals, they have two options. They can breed high-rarity animals, which will result in a juvenile of the same rarity as the parents. Alternatively, they can group buy animals. To do this:

  1. Go to the store page.
  2. Select the desired animal.
  3. Click the buy more button.
  4. Select the desired Star/Rarity level.
  5. Confirm the selection, and the game will automatically buy until the selected rarity is drawn.

There is an element of RNG to animal rarity, and thus it may be expensive to guarantee a high-rarity animal. It is suggested that significant savings be made before attempting the group buy strategy.

2

Feed A High Quality Food

Better Food Is More Cost-Effective

Players will notice in the Items tab of the store, that there are a number of food options. While most of these start locked, players will naturally unlock more by raising animals to adulthood as they play. While the cost of later food types is higher, they also provide more fullness to the animals at a cost-effective rate. For instance, carrots cost five coins each and fill five Fullness. In contrast, Cheese is 4 times as expensive as Carrot, but 4.6 times as effective at filling a critter’s fullness meter. This trend continues to get more pronounced as the food gets more expensive.

To feed the highest quality food that the player currently has unlocked, they can buy it directly from the store tab. Alternatively, they can change their default food by clicking on the bookmark in the store menu over the desired food. This causes it to appear in the bottom left under the current coins for easy access.

1

Invest In Facilities

Facilities Allow Players To Automate Their Pasture

The Money Beehive and Magic Broom Facilities in the shop

While facilities such as the Magic Broom and Beehive are expensive, they are worth the investment in Tiny Pasture. These facilities clean the pasture and collect coins automatically, maximizing the player’s earnings. The Cuckoo House is also useful, as it prevents pets from getting too hungry in between manual feedings.

While one could argue that automating the money collection and maintenance portion of the game defeats the point, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Players who automate their pasture will have time to set up multiple pastures, breed the perfect animals using the Breeding Facility, and decorate their pasture with adorable plants and furniture.
