How to Start One Last Drink Quest in Avowed

Although the Captain never mentions why the crew separated, he wishes to unite them all and have a drink with them.
Once you accept Captain Ngunu’s request, you’ll start the One Last Drink quest in Avowed. Here’s how to complete the quest and get the best outcome in the end by completing a secret/optional objective.
One Last Drink quest is known to get bugged while talking to Captain Ngunu’s crew. It’s best that you follow the sequence of objectives as mentioned below to complete the quest.
Find Captain Ngunu’s Secret Stash (Optional)
Before players head out to find and convince the Captain’s old crew, you should first explore the Watchtower in Thirdborn to uncover a dark secret. Look towards the right to find a tall red tower. Head towards it and climb some ladders to reach the top.
You’ll find a locked chest in the Watchtower that you can open using three lockpicks. Once the chest is opened, you’ll find Ngunu’s Vial of Poison
quest item. This item indicates that Captain Ngunu wants to invite his crew, just to put an end to them once and for all.
Once you have this item, now you can go fetch the crew.
Recruiting Captain Ngunu’s Crew for One Last Drink Quest
The One Last Drink quest in Avowed involves players recruiting three of Captain Ngunu’s old crew members named Kowha, Ruanga, and Tauwe. Although the crew members are scattered around the area, you can approach them in any order you like. However, it’s recommended that you approach Ruanga last. Here’s how you’ll recruit each member.
- Tauwe: Easiest to recruit. You’ll simply need to approach him and tell him about Captain Ngunu’s invitation, and he’ll jump at the opportunity to meet him again.
- Kowha: You’ll need to first eliminate his soldiers who’ve gotten sick with the Dreamthrall plague. Once you take down the soldiers, talk to Kowha, and he’ll hesitantly accept the Captain’s invite.
-
Ruanga: Convincing Ruanga to join Captain Ngunu’s invitation is a bit challenging.
- First, you’ll need to tell her the truth that the Captain meant to poison her and other crewmates with the Vial you discovered in the optional objective.
- Next, you’ll need to assure her that you’ll switch the cups.
- Lastly, choose the “You didn’t tell me to investigate the Lighthouse…” dialog option, which requires Resolve lv. 9 stat.
- Once you’ve done everything right, Ruanga will be finally convinced to accept the Captain’s invitation and put an end to him.
Should You Give Kowha and Ruanga Poison Rum or Switch Cups?
Now, once everyone’s gathered at Captain Ngunu’s gathering, you’ll have the option to give the poisoned rum to either Kowha and Ruanga or switch the cups and give the poisoned rum to Captain Ngunu and Tauwe in Avowed. This option will only appear if you’ve completed the optional objective.
Whichever decision you end up going with, you’ll get the Ring of Prosperity’s Fortune
from Captain Ngunu as a reward for recruiting everyone. However, since you’ve gone to all the trouble and convinced Ruanga to join, it’s best that you keep your promise to her and switch the cups, putting an end to Captain Ngunu’s life in One Last Drink quest in Avowed.
