Summary
- A handful of Marvel Rivals players have already unlocked Human Torch’s Lord icon.
- The Fantastic Four member was only added to the game on Friday.
- Some have The Thing’s Lord icon too, although that seems to be a little trickier to unlock.
Human Torch and The Thing were added to the Marvel Rivals roster last week. That means we’re still learning the intricacies and tricks that come with the game’s newest characters. Despite that, just four days on from them being introduced, some players have already become so proficient with the latest characters that they’ve already unlocked their Lord icons.
The more you use a character in Marvel Rivals, the higher your proficiency rank with that character will rise. The base level is Agent, next is Knight, then Captain, Centurion, and finally Lord. There are certain cycles you need to repeat to earn proficiency points, such as minutes played and enemies taken out using your Ult. Suffice to say, it takes a lot of work to rank up to Lord with a single character.

It might be accused of being a copycat game, but Marvel Rivals has thrived despite being accused of copying Overwatch.
You can tell if someone has achieved that as the reward for reaching Lord proficiency is a different icon. If you notice someone’s character icon looks different from usual, that means they’ve reached Lord with that character. While you can see Human Torch’s Lord icon by checking his proficiency page, you’d have thought it would be a while until it started showing up in lobbies, but no.
Marvel Rivals Players Have Already Unlocked Human Torch’s Lord Icon
Where Do You People Find The Time?
Reddit user u/rocks371 appears to have been one of the first to achieve Lord with Human Torch (thanks, RivalsAssembled), although their post on the r/marvelrivals subreddit has been locked, seemingly due to duplicate posts. That implies they’re far from the only one to have hit Lord within four days of Human Torch’s addition. They claim they clocked up 19 hours of Torch gameplay over the character’s first weekend to reach it.
It seems The Thing’s Lord icon is a little harder to unlock, although someone has already achieved that too. Reddit user u/FlatExcitement216 also shared their accomplishment on the r/marvelrivals subreddit, revealing it took them 21 hours to max out their Thing proficiency, so slightly longer than it has been taking people to reach the same level with Human Torch.
Despite some of you dedicating almost a full day’s worth of play to either Human Torch or The Thing in the short time between their additions and now, their arrivals in Marvel Rivals don’t appear to have shaken up competitive play all that much. Both heroes have win rates of less than 50 percent. However, with so many people wanting to try them during their first weekend, that number will likely tick up as people who get better acquainted with them stick to Torch and Thing and others return to the heroes they prefer.
