Overwatch 2‘s Season 15 featured a ton of new content, and the standout of it all are the Galactic Weapons you could earn. These exclusive weapon skinns offer an incredible amount of swagger, making them the main cosmetics you’ll want to get out of this season.
Earning these new variants will require tons of leg work on your part. If you’re willing to invest the time and the energy for all the Galactic Weapons, here’s how you go about it.
How To Earn Galactic Weapons
First and foremost, you have to be playing in the competitive lobby to get these weapon variants. Next, you’ll need to accumulate about 3,000 competitive points to unlock the Galactic Weapon for a single character. So if you’re hoping to get these points easily by playing Unranked and Arcade, you won’t be able to do that.
On top of that, when playing competitively, you must also play slightly above average. Meaning, you’ll only get points for winning or getting a draw in your matches. A win yields ten points whereas a draw will only give out five points. The more wins you have, the faster you’ll get the Galactic Weapons.
Getting wins will also help you level up faster, which, in turn, will allow you to obtain loot boxes at a quicker rate.
Where To Unlock Galactic Weapons
Once you have the points, the next step is buying the Galactic Weapon. The location of unlocking them might be confusing.
The variants aren’t in the shop. Instead, head to the Hero Selection screen from the main menu, and select whichever hero you want to unlock the Galactic Weapon variant for.
After you’ve found a hero, in their hero menu, navigate downwards and press on Weapon Variants. You should see three or four options to pick from. The Galactic Weapon will be located in this menu. From there, you’ll be able to unlock the skin.
All heroes have a Galactic Weapon Variant that costs the same 3,000 competitive points. You just need to rinse and repeat the steps above to earn them all.
Galactic Weapon doesn’t change the behavior of the hero’s main weapon. Like the rest of the unlockables in Overwatch 2, it’s purely cosmetic, giving them a unique purple coloring.
