During your Hello Kitty Island Adventure playthrough, you may have noticed that it doesn’t rain anywhere on Friendship Island. If you want to start “unlocking” weather, you should complete quests and raise your friendship with characters, such as Retsuko. Because certain resources, critters, and fish only spawn when it’s raining, you’ll want to find out how to repair the Aquafaller Machine in Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

How to Unlock the Aquafall Machine
Unlocking rain in Island Adventure is accomplished through two quests. If you’ve explored Rainbow Reef, you most likely noticed machine parts east of the Kelp Maze. This is the broken Aquafaller Machine, and your key to bringing rain back to the island. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to repair it if you haven’t done the following quests:

Once you’ve completed “Swimming Lessons” with Retsuko, you can find her on the shore of Mount Hothead (or Moon Island, if you’re starting the quest immediately after “Swimming Lessons”) and start a new quest: “A Clue On The Shore.” Retsuko has found a locked chest that contains a Treasure Map, but you’ll need some help if you want to read it.
Speak to the following characters, then return to Retsuko to continue the quest:
- Badtz-maru
- Chococat
- Pekkle
- Keroppi
You’ll then need to go to the ‘X’ on the map, which is east of the Kelp Maze. Here, you’ll find a mysterious machine. After this, seek out Chococat (who should be near the Resort Gate), and you’ll receive a list of materials you need to repair the machine.
To fix the Aquafaller, you’ll need x10 Beeswax, x10 Ingot, x10 Mechanism, and x10 Woodblock.
- x1 Beeswax can be crafted from x2 Honeycomb, which you’ll receive from Wish me mell if you give her a gift.
- x1 Ingot requires x3 Iron Ore, which you can find outside the Red Hot Ruins and on the shore of Mount Hothead. You can also find several pieces of Iron Ore inside the Gemstone Mine of Gemstone Mountain.
- x1 Mechanism can be crafted from x3 Gizmo, which are items you’ll receive from Chococat if you give him a gift.
- x1 Woodblock can be crafted from x5 Sticks or x7 Coconuts.
Give Chococat the required materials to repair the Aquafaller Machine and complete the quest.
“Island Stone” Walkthrough
How to Craft the Rain Island Stone
Unfortunately, repairing the machine isn’t enough. You’re going to need an item called a Rain Island Stone to trigger the rainfall. You’ll receive the Rain Island Stone crafting plans in the “Island Stone” quest, which you can start immediately “A Clue On The Shore” by speaking to Chococat.
To craft a Rain Island Stone, you’ll need these materials:

How to Make It Rain in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Complete “Rain or Shine” Quest
To start “Rain or Shine”, you’ll need to have crafted your first Rain Island Stone. Speak to Chococat again, and you’ll be directed to the Aquafall Machine to try out the Rain Island Stone. Interacting with the machine (while you have a Rain Island Stone) will cause it to start bubbling. Return to Seaside Resort, and you’ll notice it’s now raining.
During rainfall, you should be on the lookout for blue flower buds. Watering these will give you Raindrops, a weather-exclusive material used for crafting. You may also get the Fast Flippers crafting recipe.
When “Rain or Shine” is marked complete, it will rain in any of the four islands at random. Rain can only occur in one place at a time, so if it’s raining in Seaside Resort, it won’t be raining anywhere else. Rainfall lasts 15 minutes in real time.
By pausing your game, you can see the weather forecast. If it’s scheduled to rain, you’ll see a raincloud icon in the “Later” section on the left side of the screen. When it starts to rain, you’ll see a notification at the top of the screen indicating which region is experiencing rainfall.
If you want to manually make it rain, you can use the Aquafall Machine. However, you’re going to need x1 Rain Island Stone, and you can only use the Aquafall Machine once a week.
