Most fish in Fisch live in specific pools, and some of them are quite far from the main islands. In the case of Fangborn Gar, to catch it, you need to visit a location deep underwater called Vertigo.
It is impossible to get there using diving gear or a boat. Instead, players need to find a special portal or, more precisely, the Strange Whirlpool. It can easily be distinguished from other whirlpools by the beam of light shining from its center.

As befits an Unusual catch, Fangborn Gar has a fairly low cost. As such, this fish should not be caught in order for players to make money.
You need the Fangborn Gar in Fisch to complete the Vertigo bestiary. Doing so will reward you with bonus XP and money, and it will also allow you to open the gates leading to the Depths. That is, of course, if you have The Depths Key.
