How to Find Ulrask Boss in Avowed

At first, players encounter the giant ogre Ulrask during the Steel Resolve side mission in Avowed. While traveling to the Fior Southern Gate Beacon, you’ll meet up with Ranger Dorso. Upon asking for information on Ranger Monato, she’ll ask players to look in the Ogre’s Cave. So, after reaching the cave, players will battle Ulrask, before finding clues about the missing ranger.

However, if you didn’t complete Steel Resolve before passing a soft point of no return in Emerald Stair, you can still face Ulrask. The ogre cave is located in the Grim Wetlands, towards the northwest of the Sunken Village. There’s a dark cave at the edge of the area that players can enter to find some loot, and eventually step into the lair of Ulrask.

How to Beat Ulrask the Giant Ogre

After entering Ulrask’s Lair, it’s recommended that first players crouch and approach the boss slowly while his back is turned. After getting close enough, use the stealth attack to inflict a significant amount of damage before the main fight starts.

Now Ulrask will use three main attacks while fighting the players. Here’s information on all of them.

  • Ground Smash (Single/Multiple): Ulrask will hold its club, raise it over its head and land a devastating strike on either the player or their companions. Enraged Ulrask can also start pummeling the ground with this attack multiple times. This strike deals high damage, so dodging sideways is your best bet.
  • Club Swing: Ulrask will lunch at the player or companion and swing its club from left to right. This attack should be blocked as dodging it may get you hit regardless.
  • Poisonous Spit: The boss will cover its mouth and then launch a projectile at the player, inflicting the poison status effect. Dodging helps you avoid getting hit with it.

The best strategy to deal with Ulrask is by first freezing it with either a freeze spell, or using the Eye of Rymrgand

(freeze bombs). Once Ulrask is frozen, start striking it. The moment it gets out of the frozen state, Ulrask will try to hit you with its club. It’s recommended that you try to parry this attack, as you’ll get a large window for counter-attack.

The arena will be swarmed with Skeleton Minions and Shadows, so best deal with them first before engaging Ulrask again. Once the boss is defeated, scavenge the cave for loot. You’ll get some valuable crafting materials from Ulrask, including some Awakened Adra

.
