How to Anoint an Amulet in PoE 2
In Path of Exile 2, players can anoint an amulet with a Notable passive skill by using three Distilled Emotions corresponding to the passive skill in question through the instilling window. Here is the step-by-step process:

Determine which passive skill you want to anoint on the Amulet. This varies from build to build.
- Locate this skill in the passive skill tree. Hover over it and press ALT.
- Note the names of the three Distilled Emotions in the context window. These are the Distilled Emotions needed to instill that specific skill in that Amulet.
- Obtain the required Distilled Emotions and place them in your inventory.
- Then, right-click on a Distilled Emotion to open the instilling window.
- Place the Amulet in the slot at the top and place the three Distilled Emotions in the slots at the bottom.

Once everything is in place, the name of the skill being anointed will appear in the text box at the bottom of the window. Double-check to make sure it is the correct skill.
- Click the Instill button at the very bottom to anoint the Amulet.
- And that’s it! Now, this Amulet will activate the anointed skill as soon as it is placed in the amulet gear slot on a character.
Once anointed, an amulet cannot be anointed again with a different skill.
Since anointing can be quite expensive, players should only anoint an amulet they’re sure is going to be useful to them for a good while in the endgame. Anointing any random amulet just for the sake of it is a huge waste.
Anointing a Corrupted Amulet in PoE 2
If an amulet has the corrupted tag in PoE 2, players cannot anoint it with any skill. Trying to do so will cause the game to ask the player for the Tainted Oil item. Tainted Oil was an item in PoE 1, which allowed players to anoint a corrupted amulet. However, this item does not exist in PoE 2 currently. This text message is a remnant from PoE 1 code.

How to Get Distilled Emotions in PoE 2
Specific Distilled Emotions are needed to anoint various Notables in PoE 2. There are three ways to get these items.
Delirium Map Nodes
Defeating Delirium monsters in Delirium map nodes will reward players with 2-5 Distilled Emotions per run, depending on the clear rate. Some Distilled Emotions are rarer than others, which means you won’t get even drop rates.
Defeating Delirium monsters inside Delirium Fog Instilled Waystones will not drop Distilled Emotions. They will drop Simulacrum Splinters instead.
Currency Exchange
The most reliable way to obtain Distilled Emotions quickly is via the in-game Currency Exchange. Talk to Alva in your hideout and scroll down to the exact Distilled Emotion you need. These are usually sold for Exalted Orbs or Divine Orbs, depending on the rarity.
Trade Site
Sometimes players can find certain Distilled Emotions for sale on the trade site for cheaper than on the Currency Exchange. However, this is a rare occurrence and not something to rely on.
