How Strong Is Jinwoo's Son? Suho's Strength Explained

Summary

  • Suho becomes incredibly strong in “The Tutorial” after defeating Jinwoo’s most powerful shadows.
  • Suho is nowhere close to Jinwoo in power, despite rapid advancement.
  • Solo Leveling Ragnarok’s protagonist still has a long way to go to reach or surpass his father’s strength.

Solo Leveling Manhwa established Sung Jinwoo as the strongest being to ever exist. By the end of the series, he became an immortal being capable of altering reality and exist beyond time and space. So, obviously, fans expect Jinwoo’s son, Sung Suho, to become as powerful as his father in the Solo Leveling Ragnarok series.

In fact, it would not be wrong to wonder if Suho can someday surpass his father in terms of strength. If that doesn’t happen, there would be no point centering the entire spin-off series around Suho’s character and growth. Of course, Suho still has a long way to go to be able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with his father, but being the son of Shadow Monarch, the boy already holds tremendous strength.

Sung Suho Became Incredibly Strong In “The Tutorial”

Only Sung Jinwoo Was Able To Defeat Suho

The main storyline of Solo Leveling Ragnarok begins with Suho awakening his powers that are equivalent to an E-Rank Hunter. He retains these powers while fighting an enemy and saving a girl from an unfortunate death. Of course, these powers weren’t enough to defeat the higher-ranked monster, but Suho was able to hold on against the enemy for a decent amount of time. Fortunately, Beru, the Ant King, arrives on the scene and saves Suho from the enemy. Up till now, we thought that Suho would go through an experience similar to Sung Jinwoo’s to grow in strength. Well, to some extent, that is true, but there’s one big change in Sung Suho’s journey.

Apparently, before Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In disappeared from the planet, Jinwoo trained his son through a mechanism he called “The Tutorial.” To make it simple, Jinwoo trained his son in a closed magical space that was accessible to the boy through a Gate. Sung Suho went through several challenges in the Tutorial, which included fighting Igris, Bellion, and Beru. After a slight struggle, Suho defeated even the strongest of Jinwoo’s shadows, which were as powerful as any good S-Rank Hunter.

While some people need to work as hard as an ‘Ant’ to gain wealth, some people have it handed to them for nothing. This distinction makes those same ‘Ants’ sorely realize their limits. – Sung Suho

Since Suho defeated these Shadows, you could say that Suho became way stronger than your average S-Rank Hunter. Some would say that these Shadows, especially Beru, must have held back and not used their full strength while fighting Suho. However, that’s highly unlikely because, despite how they felt for the boy, they were following direct orders from Jinwoo. So, every Shadow must have fought Suho with their full might. It further means that Suho became the second-strongest being to ever exist in The Tutorial (The first is obviously his father, Sung Jinwoo).

Of course, it’s great that Suho went through rigorous training in the Tutorial, but one might wonder why he didn’t have these powers when he was awakened in Solo Leveling Ragnarok. Well, that’s because Jinwoo suppressed these powers and the memory of having them to give the boy a chance at normal life. The Tutorial was simply a medium for Jinwoo to test if his boy was strong enough to hold on against a powerful threat on his own. And while Suho became incredibly strong in the Tutorial, he couldn’t access those powers outside of the Gate. Suho occasionally saw glimpses of everything that transpired in The Tutorial through dreams, but he rubbed those off and never sought to find out if what he had been seeing was real.

Sung Soho’s Current Rank In Solo Leveling Ragnarok

Suho had to start everything over from the beginning and train even harder to reach the same level that he reached in the Tutorial. This time, he can level up using the System, which has evolved to match Suho’s needs. The boy starts off as an E-rank, but after going through some incredibly powerful dungeon bosses, he has reached the level of an A-rank Hunter in the webtoon. In the web novel, however, he has become an S-Rank Hunter.

Sung Suho Is Nowhere Close To Jinwoo In Terms Of Power

Suho Still Has A Long Way To Go To Touch His Father’s Level

Ever since Solo Leveling Ragnarok started, fans have been wondering if Sung Suho is stronger than his father. Well, the short answer to that question is NO. Suho is a strong Hunter in Ragnarok, but he isn’t anywhere close to Jinwoo in terms of strength or power. While Suho is still fighting on the human level, Jinwoo has become a cosmic entity that transcends time and space. Jinwoo has reached true immortality and has the power to alter reality.

He is the only force that is strong enough to stop the Outer Gods, Itarim, from conquering Earth. Of course, maybe someday, Suho will be able to reach or even surpass his father’s level, but it would be unfair to compare his powers with Jinwoo at this point in the story.

Cha Hae-In is a crucial character in Solo Leveling, but what exactly happened to her in the Ragnarok series? Is she even alive in the sequel series?

All being said, Suho is Shadow Monarch’s son, so he adapts to The System faster than Jinwoo did when he was the Player. That is why Suho was able to hold his ground against Jinwoo, even for a little while, in the Tutorial. Suho has a different style of fighting, and unlike Jinwoo, Suho prioritizes Strength over other skills and traits. He often puts most of his earned points in Strength, which makes him incredibly strong as a Hunter.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that, despite not having Shadow Army by his side, he has been completing all the challenges of The System faster than Jinwoo. It’s safe to assume that he’ll very easily become the second-strongest human after Jinwoo, but he must become a Monarch to match his father’s excellence.
