Diablo 4 Players Call for Major Change to Strongholds

Creating and experimenting with an alternate character and build has always been a significant part of the Diablo 4 experience, and because of this, players are asking Blizzard to unlock Strongholds account-wide. This would not only make Strongholds less tedious to manage in Diablo 4 but would likely encourage more players to seek out them in the first place.

The Diablo franchise has undergone plenty of tweaks, updates, and transformations over the last few decades, though one thing has always remained king: loot. Finding, unlocking, and collecting different weapons, amulets, and armor has been key to the overall Diablo experience, meaning that it’s crucial that grinding for loot is fun for players. The same can be said for farming other resources like Renown Points, which allow Diablo 4 players to progress and upgrade their character. However, getting these points can be tedious, though players agree there’s one way Blizzard can help.

A recent Reddit post from user YerBoyAlex received a significant amount of support from the game’s community after they made the claim that Strongholds should be unlocked account-wide. The player explains that while Strongholds were fun to do in past Diablo 4 updates at first, they become increasingly more tedious with each new alternative character build. Players agreed, with some calling Strongholds a “buzzkill” and others saying they never do them. Simply put, lots of players claim that Strongholds in their current form are not worth completing, but a change, like the previously proposed account-wide unlock, could vastly improve the system.

Diablo 4 Players Argue for Stronghold Rework

Strongholds act as overtaken settlements in Diablo 4, offering players rewards in exchange for an extreme challenge. Chaotic battles are a staple of the Diablo franchise, but Strongholds require a decent amount of skill and attention to complete, something players don’t think matches up to the rewards. Not only are there a flurry of enemies during Stronghold encounters, but these battles are rated at least two levels higher than the player’s character. In return for a completed Stronghold, players are given Renown points, which can be used to further upgrade a character.

Players are currently in the middle of Diablo 4‘s Season 7 cycle. Officially titled Season of Witchcraft, Season 7 follows Season of Hatred, which came alongside Diablo 4‘s first major new piece of DLC content. Season 7 has introduced a plethora of new and exciting changes for Diablo 4, with plenty more on the horizon going forward. Season 8 of Diablo 4 is set to launch on April 15, 2025.
