Enjoy that familiar feeling Avowed gives in some other titles.

Dubbed bounties, these tough enemies are peppered throughout the Living Lands and you get a nice, hefty reward at the end of it. However, some bounties present more of a challenge than others; as such, here are the best bounties in Avowed.

6

Octav The Firebrand

Biome: Dawnshore

The boss fight against Octav the Firebrand in Avowed.

Drops

  • Octav’s Adra Tooth
  • Sheathed in Summer +1

Rewards

One of the hardest bounties in Dawnshore next to the Yellowbands, Octav the Firebrand made his home in the Godless Ruins in the Overgrown Frontier. As the leader of a bandit crew, you’ll have to face not only Octav’s lightning-fast dagger strikes but also his seemingly endless stream of allies.

From bowmen to rogues and sorcerers, facing Octav would be best with Kai and Marius in your party. However, fending off Octav and his misfits is worth it, as he’ll drop a unique, one-handed weapon called Sheathed in Summer, which deals fire damage to enemies.

5

Belderreno

Biome: Emerald Stair

Drops

Gleaming Core

Rewards

Located west of Felipe’s Depression, Belderreno is a massive earth blight that deals heavy attacks. However, it’s also backed up by other enemies that also deal heavy attacks, from a greatsword-wielding Skeletal Barbarian to a Decaying Skeleton Wizard that launches ice missiles.

As you’ll soon anticipate in future encounters with earth blights, these sorts of enemies multiply upon death. After Belderreno is defeated, two smaller earth blights spawn immediately, and although they’re trivial to deal with, it’s certainly an unwelcome surprise.

4

The Trantons

Biome: Emerald Stair

Drops

  • Tranton Signet Ring
  • Tranton Family Brigandine
  • Tranton Family Greaves
  • Tranton Family Gauntlets
  • Tranton Family Talisman

Rewards

A violent ragtag group of brigands, the Trantons can be found southwest of the Ranger Outpost in the Wildwoods. Although they’re not that hard to deal with, the Trantons are interesting since they’re connected to a very important side quest that connects to the main story.

Once you’ve killed the Trantons, you’ll find Ranger Verano locked up in a cage. Speaking with him will trigger the side quest Steel Resolve and lead you to the Ranger Outpost. The last thing you expect when dealing with the Trantons would be how it would lead to the unmasking of a mole within the rangers, as well as what would ultimately decide the fate of Fior mes Iverno.

3

Koda And Dario

Biome: Shatterscarp

Koda and Dario speak to one another in Avowed.

Drops

Sack of Jewelled Eggs 2x

Rewards

Unlike the other bounties you’ll pick up throughout your journey through the Living Lands, this one isn’t outright hostile initially. Found in a Godless ruin north of the Sand Sea Ruins, thieves Koda and Dario will be in the middle of an argument, seemingly unbothered at the fact they’re laying out their crimes in the open in front of the Envoy.

10 Hidden Areas In Avowed Everyone Completely Missed

Across its five maps, Avowed has a lot of secrets to discover.

The Envoy patiently waits for the duo to stop bickering, before launching into an attack. Surprisingly, these two are quite tough to bring down. Although no skeletons or beetles are springing up to support them, killing one will somehow boost the other in terms of attack power and speed.

2

Mater Mare

Biome: Galawain’s Tusks

Fighting the Mater Mare boss in Avowed.

Drops

Matriarch’s Horn

Rewards

If you haven’t gone to Solace Keep yet and decided to go exploring, you might end up stumbling into the Writhing Ruins. Inside, there’s a large cavern with a massive skull in the centre. Although everything seems quiet and peaceful, all hell breaks loose the moment you pilfer the Ancient Arrowhead treasure map from the skeleton, as Mater Mare (or the Beetle Matriarch) materialises.

Although Mater Mare alone is not difficult to tackle, the difficulty is the legion of beetles that show up to back her up. From Stone Beetles to Queen Adra Beetles, the battlefield quickly becomes chaotic as you’re overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies. You’re either blindly swinging your weapon or shooting spells, but you’ll certainly be spamming the dodge button.

1

Congasar And Crusta

Biome: Galawain’s Tusks

Fighting the ogres Congrasar and Crusta in Avowed.

Drops

Half-Moon Bracelet 2x

Rewards

Although Mater Mare was a difficult fight, the ogre duo Congasar and Crusta was another level of chaos altogether. Not only are you faced with battling two tanks, but an army of reanimated skeletons soon join the fight.

In this fight, it’s recommended to take out the skeletal priests first, since they could heal their allies and destroy all the progress you’ve made with the ogre bosses. Alongside dodging all the heavy hits from the ogres, there are also multiple archers and shield-bearing warriors to keep an eye out for. For this fight, it’s a definite must to bring Giatta along.
